warped audio

having serious issues here. My audio is warped/distorted no matter what program im using. I bought new jbl speakers thinking perhaps it was an equipment problem...however, the problem still persists. Should i get a new sound card or is there just some setting i need to change?

- What soundcard are you running?
- Have you tried latest drivers from the manufacturer's website?

 

i tried the troubleshooting thing a ma jigger......and whatever sound card is in a compaq presario 6000 is what im using....

 

If you're running Windows XP, then try these drivers -

For future reference - before going for help, always check drivers, connections inside the pc (unless it's a laptop) and running ad-aware cleaners and anti virus.
