Is there some technology that I can buy to watch internet TV on my television? Right now I am using my Xbox but it is dying and I can't afford to replace it at the moment. Really don't want to loose my TV watching capabilities. Is there something I can buy for this purpose without buying another video game console? :p

Hulu isn't available yet, but Chromecast will do what you need for 35 bucks.

Note: you must use an additional device to setup the matchmaking, such as computer, tablet, or phone.

Lol.. is that through comcast? trying to not pay for cable any more... the prices go up and up and they do less and less. The reason I am getting rid of them is because with their new modems and system, they make you pay an extra $15 a month (on top of the already $65 a month for basic cable and $65 a month for cable internet) for the service plan to give you the code you now need to connect the xbox to the internet. I could not believe it. turned them off about three months ago for this, gouging I think they call it. :p

I was thinking more like a device you buy like the xbox that just allows the tv a wireless connection...

    Roku?

Anyone know anything about Roku? Just found it... looks like just what I am looking for...

IMO the cheapest method would be a cheap used pc, an old beige box from anywhere, see if any of your friends or family are giving one away.

If you aim for something like a P4 2.8GHz and whatever video card it comes with you should be able to watch anything up to 720p at medium quality.

    Which country are you in?

EDIT If you choose something like Roku you'll spend nearly the same amount as a used xbox or ps3 but the only thing it will do is stream TV, very neat, tidy and efficient though.

    I am in the US...
Not sure what you are saying in the first paragraph... You mean just getting an additional computer?

Not sure what a P4 is either unless you are talking about a playstation 4. I have an xbox360 that is acting like it wants to die.. that is what I am looking at replacing. I can't afford a new console right now... so hoping to find something cheaper.

A computer with an Intel pentium 4 2.8GHz CPU. And yes another computer, if budget is your primary concern.

I can't offer any advice on internet TV players I don't use them and don't like them, I also don't live in the US.

Do you have a high definition TV?

If so, then the easiest way for you to do this is to get an extra computer.

You can find a used Dell really cheap off of the internet.

    The PC will need

    - P4(pentium 4) processor, or faster
    - wifi enabled
    - most importantly, a video card with HDMI output
    - a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard would be nice

You could try scavenging e-waste to come up with an extra PC. I'm seeing a lot of early Socket 775 Intel towers these days.

You could do what I do, and use the TV as your PC monitor via a video card with an HDMI output. I used to sit at the desk with a little monitor, but now I relax with a wireless keyboard, and a trak-ball mouse. Ah, luxury...

    :-D
