Can anyone direct me to a product that will allow me to watch my "Direct TV" satilite dish on my PC Monitor? I have found many sites that will sell me "TV adapters", as well as a million of them on Ebay, but they all state they are good for "Cable TV" but none say a thing about "Direct TV" or any mini-dish satilite receivers. I asked one eBay dealer selling a USB device, and they said it wouldn't work with my Direct TV receiver...but didn't say why. I found one USB unit at Best Buy, but the tech behind the counter looked it up and also said the unit wouldn't work with my direct TV. I'm beginning to think it may have to do with the "security card" that is in each "Direct TV" satilite receiver box. I really don't care if it allows for POP (picture in picture) or not. It would be nice but not necessary. I wouldn't even mind if it were a type of gizmo that converted the video signal from my Direct TV receiver to a VGA compatable format. In other words I don't care if I have to use my receiver box because the unit doesn't have a tuner on board...in fact, that may be even better as I like the receiver box I use just as it is, and there would be no "security card" problems that way! I am looking for an external unit rather than a card if possible, as I have only one PCI slot left available. Any infromation I can get from you folks for setting up my own "Geek TV" will be a big help!
    Thanks,

you don't need a TV card because the direct tv box converts the signal for you.
what kind of outputs are on the back of the direct tv box?
i assume its like a digital cable box and has composite or svideo outputs. All you would need is a VIVO (Video In Video Out) video card. thats a lot of videos!
