a_o_m, it might be an idea to tell us of the software convertor that you used. It may save other MG 'ers from a similar fate. Hang on, expert help will soon be with you, I hope. Bazza

AOM .. Bazza is correct the name of software you used would be a great help...

its possible that this app like others has left some files or registry line on your PC .... have.. as you have un-installed it .. just have a quick look in Program Files for a folder with that app/makers name and delete it... then download this app Regcleaner a registry cleaner...... http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=460 run it and in the Software list look for that app/makers name again and put tick in box and delete.

try your AVIs again to see if its gone.

will be easier to find fix.. with name of app tho ;)

well,i tried the regclean and looked in my program files, but didn't see any sign of the program in either place.somewhat puzzling,as i expected i would find it in my registry,i found alot of junk from other previously installed programs.i tried my avi files again, and the watermark is still there.anyone know what else i could try?this is a very annoying problem.

What does the watermark say exactly?
    It's not Divx.. is it?
AFAIK the only way somthing can show a watermark on ALL avi films is by editing the codec which decodes it.

And to that end, I suggest you go to www.divx.com and download the latest free version of the divx codec and see if that helps :)

AOM, Check out my post on http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36857

Last free versions are there. If you elect to use JV-16 be very careful. It is very powerful. I get the shakes every time I go to use it. Do the registry check and "sort" by "colour codes". You can delete the green coded ones, nothing else, unless you are very sure of what you are doing.

MAKE SURE you BACKUP your REGISTRY before you start. If you don't know how to do this, leave jv-16 alone. Bazza

it says"this watermark will be removed after registered".i already have the latest divx codecs,i suppose i could uninstall them and then re-install them,if you think it's worth a try.i'm not confident enough with my computer skills to mess around much with the registry.i'm open to more suggestions, thank's for all the help so far.

AOM, Select JV-16 from this link.

    http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/dld/jv16_1.3.0.195.zip

Last free version, 2mb in size. Install and run it. It goes much deeper than RegCleaner being the senior version of it. Just the REgistry part only, then sort by colour codes. It is safe to delete the green ones. Not too bad to use, really, but I have not gone into it deeply.

If not sure, don't delete anything, report back and we can advise further. Bazza

Try re-installing. If it affects all avi movies on your machine (i.e. not just the ones encoded by the program).

I doubt that it's a registry setting, but its certainly a possibility, so stick with bazza on this one :D

no luck with the registry mechanic,no sign of the problem there,as far as i can tell.i'll try re-installing the codecs, and i'll report back later and let you all know if it worked
