When a pumpkin isn't handy, a watermelon will do in a pinch.

WOW, now those took some work, and a whole lot of patience, bet they had to work in a cooler to keep the melons fresh.

I couldn't do it, I'd start eating before I got close to being done

I did get flash back.

I Remember when I bought watermellon, put it in the trunk of the car, forgot about it, a week latter ( summer hot spell 100f +) the Worst smell, I ever smelt.
Glad it was the wifes car!
I did have to clean it, Yuck! I had other words too! some rymed!
Had to throw out the trunk liner, used every cleaner I could get my hand's on.
Even after two months, on a hot day, still had hint of Rotten Mellom.

I'll probably have dreams about it tonight.

 

When I was a kid(I grew up in the country) we had wild field melons(about the size of jr footballs down to softballs) we would use to play a MEAN game of "vineyard dodgeball", sometimes they would be so rotten they would come apart in your hands if ya threw them too hard, heheheheee.
Boy those were the days

I love stuff like that from my childhood. We had a grapevine and a plum tree in our backyard, and we'd throw grapes and plums at eachother. Man would my parents be mad; a waste of good fruit, it stained the heck out of everything, and a nice mess when we mowed the yard. But I still kept doing it..
