I've have a problem with Pop-ups for the last few weeks. I've run Norton, Adaware and spybot and I just can't seem to get rid of the pop-ups. I've run all in safe mode, disabled system restore (I have Windows Me) and still can't figure out why i'm still getting waves of pop-ups. Just a few minutes ago, about 15-20 pop-ups came up and Nortion stated I had Trojan.Alwaysup virus in several temp internet files. Norton would not delete, so I deleted all temp internet files from explorer. The thing is.. i've done this before and I keep getting pop ups and notices from Norton about a Trojan. I don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone help?

I noticed a posting about "Hijack This" and it seemed to help someone with a similar problem. I am willing to try this if someone can offer assistance.

    Thanks Much!

    Please run the steps below.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
Also to get you started and to reduce the size of your HJT log. Do the following:

Also look in Add/Remove programs for Internet2 Optimizer and uninstall if found.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem, boot into normal mode and make sure you follow these directions:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
