    Hi,

I am experiencing redirections from my web startpage to, for exampleWbr4.com, oqem.com etc.
I have run BHODemon 2.0 and only the Sun java ssv.dll is active. I have run ATF cleaner and Ccleaner and removed everything, including the cookies. next I ran my virus checker (Avast) then HitmanPro 2, once more AdAware and Spybot and the online scan Housecall from Trend.
In the hijack scan I removed the O17 entries, but these keep coming back even when removal is done in the safe mode. I also noted that file ashMaiSv.exe would be missing, but it is present in the proper program files location.

I would be most happy to get expert advice and get control over my PC again.
    Thanks and regards, Alfred.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

As mentioned im my first posting, I managed, with great effort, to run the cleanup and checkservices as mentioned. With the redirections I am experiencing to complete the required list is near impossible. I took me two days to get to Counterspy and complete the run. It found one tracking cookie which was deleted.
I think formatting the harddisk and spending some two days to rebuild the entire system is more efficient. I think I an giving this up. I had hoped for advice, not a near impossible tasklist.
    Alfred.

You got advice and you should have run as much of it as possible and attached requested logs so we could help you. Even if you could not run CounterSpy, Spybot, or the online scans you could have easily installed HijackThis properly and attach a properly log after it was renamed and installed properly. And if you could run HijackThis then you could just as easily have run GetRunKey and ShowNew. You HijackThis log showed no malware and is the reason we need the READ ME to be run! HijackThis is not a malware scanning/detection tool.
