    Hi folks,

Just an inquiry about web browsers and how to stop this from happenning in the numerous web browsers that there are, as I use many.

Is there a way to turn OFF the "search using a web browser when I type an address into the address bar" functionality?

As in... in the address bar.. if I type in say www.google.com.au it's doesn't open a search engine such as yahoo and search for "www.google.com.au" then say " did you mean http://www.google.com.au "
It does the same thing when I use an IP address, such as a local internal IP, or even a short name that is used in the hosts file to set a name to an IP.

how can it be forced to add on the start (like Opera did/does)as an HTTP:// then HTTPS:// the GOPHER:// then others.. depending on whatever order you set it to be, and THEN and ONLY THEN just error instead of doing a search on google or where ever and have the SEARCH BAR as the searching thing for a search engine?

Is there any way of changing this annoyance?

Please help it is frustrating the heck out of me when I search on google for an internal IP address of my local network with a port number when I'l using Chrome or Firefox and Bing with IE...
