I recently borrowed a Creative WebCam Pro eX from a friend along with the software on CD. I have an Acer Travelmate 420 notebook on which I was going to install it. Going through the installation procedure I continue to get the message "Error during installation" and the cam is not being recognised. I did, just once after I re-installed the software obtain the image through the cam on my computer, but when I tried to let a friend see I continued to get "Web Cam not found, please connect" THe was connected and I Had received the USB message that it was ready to use.

Can anyone throw any light onto the probable cause? Any ideas would be appreciated

Visit the Acer web site, and download and re-install any chipset drivers and/or any USB drivers. It could be that your current drivers need to be updated to work the cam.... also, check with Creative's support page and see if there's any known issue or bugs with the cam or its software, and, if so, download the fix if available.

Be sure the cam is unplugged from the PC when installing the chipset or USB drivers....
