Web Hosting Advice???

Hi,

I'm looking for the best deal I can find for my web hosting needs. So, of course I'm asking my superiors.

I'm looking for something like $10 a year to get a domain and the ability to host pictures, an incorporated LiveJournal or similiar journal, and maybe a few other small files.

So storage space needed is very minimal, I really don't care about that. What I want is to get as much bandwidth for file transfer as is possible keeping it under say $20, but ideally I want to pay about $10.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

 

actually check out www.host-dot.com they have everything you just mentioned, and its free. no ads, or anything. i use them for my own site and my blog (www.desmondp.host-dot.com). As for the domain name, check out www.godaddy.com they seem to have a very great price right now.

 

Neo, how in the heck did you get Wordpress installed on there?

I get errors galore, but can install it fine on IIS.

I checked out the site and created a user account on their forum, but I failed to find any information on the specific specs of their free hosting.

I don't want to purchase a domain until I'm sure that I've found someone I want to host it.

Could you tell me the specs?

-Also, through a multitude of google searches I managed to find this domain provider. http://domains.aplus.net/

They appear to be slightly cheaper than www.godaddy.com

***Also, if you feel like explaining, although I understand if you don't want to (and it's really not that important I'm just curious). What's the deal with domain names? I don't understand what the difference between providers are and why there are such different prices for the same domain names? I just don't understand.

Nm, my ftp account is working now.

 

nah nah nah, go to Fantastico, its got everything in there. Dont waste your ftp space. Go to fantasico, and under blogs it has wordpress. You click install, and it does it automatically.

I thought you were refering to the ftp account as in you tried to install the wordpress from the FTP account.

$15/year for a domain!!?!? thats crazy. Switch to godaddy.com there only like $9 a year.
