webcam recording software

Hey guys, I don't post often because I come here to get the best help over going to some unmentionable retail stores for answers..

I'm a student and have to record myself acting out a particular scene for a class project.

I have a webcam, a xbox one, It works, windows 7 has found it and installed it.. but is there a program in windows that I can use to view/record from the webcam? for free?
