    Hi Software Forum!

My OS is windows 2000 Professional

I just got my computer cleaned up in the Spyware Forum, but it turns out my biggest problem wasn't spyware related!

When I try to log on to my company webmail, the page loads, it shows how many unopened e-mails I have in my folders, but when I try to open my folders the screen says, 'loading...' and never displays anything! I get an error message icon on my lower left toolbar with 'error on page' next to it. When I double click the icon, I get an errror message:

    Line:973
    Char: 2
Error: Automation server can't create object.
    Code: 0

I can get into my folders when I access from my home computer, using the same address and password, but not from my work computer. I can also access my home e-mail from my work computer, so I've been checking my work e-mail from home and forwarding anything important to my home account so I can access it at work. This works, but I get information a day late at work.

Anybody got any good ideas on what I should do?

    Thanks for anything!

Anybody know if I can automatically forward my mail from one account to another?

I know everybody is busy with Christmas, I'm just going to keep posting something new to keep my thread on the front page!

    Merry Christmas!

I've looked through the options on my Webmail page, but I'm not seeing anything that would allow me to automatically forward to my home account. Anyone know if there's a way?

Also, is there a scan I can do to see if I have system files missing or corrupted?

    Thanks

    Hello again!

Just posting again to keep current. Anybody got any ideas? Like I said, this isn't an earth-shaking problem, just an annoyance I'd like to fix.

    Thanks

It sounds like perhaps an ActiveX issue, security level too high or something. Can you try changing some of the ActiveX controls and see if it helps? You could also try using another browser like Firefox and see if that works.

Is there no tech support at your work to help you?

    Thanks for responding Jamiko!

Yes, there's a tech guy in the home office, but I'm in a field office, and the support he wants to give me is to have me send this computer in to let him install XP on it instead of 2k. If I can get it fixed without that, I'd prefer it. I hear XP takes up a lot more room than 2k, and I'm fairly comfortable with what I've got.

I checked my security settings, and the only ActiveX options that aren't enabled or set at prompt are 'download unsigned ActiveX controls' and 'Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe'. I set them to 'prompt'. I'll see if that changed anything.

    Thanks again

I just checked, and the changes I made in security didn't affect my error message.

    Wow!

It's amazing that the vast intellegence pool of this forum can't come up with any advise for this problem of mine. Maybe I'm smarter than I think, because I can't come up with anything either! :p

I'm still out here looking for a hand! Anyone know how I can forward my e-mail or fix my logon problem?

Trust me, I'm not 'acting' ignorant!

    Thanks

A few things to try... first delete cookies and temporary internet files as well as deleting all offline content aswell then try again, also do you have a firewall?

only wondering as some of them have privacy options as well to block 3rd party cookies worth checking yours out or turning it off for a short while to test.

in IE you could if your Privacy settings are too high ( Tools > Internet Options > Privacy ) move the slider to Medium and/or add your companys webmail site to the Allow list.

Halo, thank you very much for replying!

For your first suggestion, I use CCleaner daily, so I think that should cover it? Or not?

On the second, no, sorry to say, I don't have a firewall yet, because if I have to send this thing in to get XPed to fix it, I don't want to buy a firewall that I won't need, or will lose.

As far as the last one, I know that my Privacy setting is at medium now, but I'm sure going to try adding my company's webmail site to the Allow list first thing tomorrow!

I just can't figure out why I can get to the site, see how many messages I have in my Inbox, and Deleted box, but can't access them!

Again, thanks alot for the help!

PS- My Dad used to tell us, 'Ignorance is curable, but stupid is forever.' Hopefully I get the cure!

    Halo

I checked my Privacy settings, it was at medium-high. I reset it to medium, but that didn't change anything. I checked my allowed list and my company's site was already allowed.

I tried downloading vbscript 5.6. It didn't help either. -like your new avitar!

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks again

Does your home e-mail allow you to set up a POP3 mail account?

If it does try getting the POP3 server info for you work e-mail and setting it up on your home account. That should allow you to access your work mail.:)

    tigerray00,

I've been off the net for awhile, what is a POP3 mail account, and how do I link my work account to my home account with it?

Ok basically what you would be doing is setting up a mail program such as Outlook Express to download your e'mail from an e-mail server so that you can view it offline. To do this you will need the mail server addresses for the e-mail account you are trying to access.

    Who provides your e-mail service?

If your not sure just give me the information in your work e-mail address that is after the @ symbol, and I will try to find out if they support POP3 for you.
