well comcast tech was an idiot and knew more than i do.

he had to call his buddy who supposedly knew everything and he said "oh we dont block ANY websites it has to be a firewall / spyware issue"

and "oh you can get on thru ur phone and wifi.. then nothings wrong"

    thats about it.

i asked if they had another router to try and they said no, and i asked well how does that explain both computers in my house not working for this one website and they were just like oh maybe they are set up the same.

needless to say that was a waste of my time and didnt get me anywhere..

Yeah stylin97 I read your thread on the Corral and responded to it........I'm in Oh. It seems like everyone on the Corral is saying pretty much the same thing as everyone on Major Geeks, I guess I'm going to see if they can give me a new IP address maybe that is the answer but gotta wait 4 days though. :(...............it is funny how some members on Corral have a similar problem ever since those server updates.

    Peace :cool

I just read all the entries in your thread on Coral's forum.
What "Itstock" said makes the most sense.
Your router assigns you what is called an IP (Internet Protocol) address when you first start Windows.
The IP address acts as a locator for one IP device to find another and interact with it.
Your router evidently is assigning you an address that is similar enough to someone else's that the fact that Coral is blocking them causes you to be blocked as well.
All routers made by a particular manufacturer will fall within a numerical range that the router can use.
The fact that some of the users at Coral who use Comcast but have different routers are not experiencing this problem, is why I said earlier

Hopefully myself and stylin97 will be able to get different routers or different IP addresses...................either of these 2 things should do the trick correct?

    Peace :cool

Getting your computer to be assigned a new IP by your router should not effect anything concerning the website, as this IP is for the intranet, or local network, not the internet.

The IP address that is visible on the internet and the one that is used to communicate with the web server is assigned by the ISP, and it is generally assigned to your modem, not each individual computer within the network. All computers on the intranet or local network will have the same internet IP using a configuration like this.

To change your internet IP you should contact your ISP.

You may be able to get a new one by disconnecting your modem for a set amount of time, which will cause it to be assigned a new IP the next time it connects back up. Wether or not this will work, and how long you would need to leave it disconnected, depends. Your ISP should be able to tell you.

    Unbanable is correct.
I 'm sorry I mislead you about the IP address intranet/internet issue. I was placing too much attention on the coincidence of your both having the same router.
I doubt that rebooting the modem will give you a new IP address, but it is possible and certainly worth a try.

^Your right, it might not, and even if it did, it would most likely be a very small change. Although rebooting it isn't what I meant, I meant leaving it off/disconnected for a certain amount of time.

Although, I don't really see what changing your IP would help anyway, unless the web server was blocking it, in which case, since you can communicate with them, they should be able to fix the problem themselves. And if it was blocking it, like I said, the change in IP would be so small, that it probably wouldn't pick up an IP that wouldn't be blocked. Generally when an IP is banned, they wildcard the last one or two numbers. Sure, this could end up blocking some other people too, but in a lot of cases, that doesn't matter. If your IP was banned, then it's probably because they were blocking someone else but wildcarded the last digits and yours were within that range. Well, since getting assigned a different IP will probably only get you one or two digits changed, you'll probably still fall within that range. Hope this makes sense, and I hope you can find the problem.

If the site your trying to get to recently changed servers then the site has a new IP address. It could simply be the case that your Comcast servers haven't made the change to the new address. You are being sent to the old address and no one is there so it appears that you are locked out.
This is exactly what post #4 in this thread said
Comcast is huge (I'm a Comcast subscriber) and my servers aren't the same as yours so that's why the site loads okay for me but not for you.

Put this in the address bar 12.28.177.202
this at least will get you to the main site where you can click on forum and get to it.
One of these days, your Comcast will fix it so it will point to the new address.

we've already addressed this and posted that even going straight to the IP of Corral site still doesnt work for either of us.

Have you looked in your hosts file?
Lately I could not update AVG on one of my computers. I tried everything. Finally one of the techs at the free forum told me to check the host file. I did and the IP of AVG was in there! I know I didn't put it in. I commented it out and immediately could get to the download site to update AVG. I still am trying to figure out how that address got in one computer of several at my home. (No I don't have kids so there are also no grandkids and my husband rarely goes near my computers).

^That is something to check out. As far as I know, a host file generally isn't changed unless changed manually or by malware.

If the host file DOES turn out to be the problem, you should probably run some scans and maybe even let someone review some logs to make sure you are clean.

For more info about your hosts file and how to access or edit it, check this thread: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25959
