Hello, is everyone enjoying the weekend ?:) ,

I just wanted to post my scans and logs for this week, to make sure everything is in working order, I guess you can never be too careful, especially with my luck :) .

Oh yeah, one question, when I do the spy-bot scan it always finds the "windows active desktop" as an error and I always fix this problem, exactly what is this .

And I forgot  and did bitdefender and panda in normal mode, I know I should of did these in safe mode.

    Thanks

    James

Please explain why you went back to the below old thread:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=92583

And deleted all of your logs. You should not being doing this and it should not even be allowed. Just a bug in the vB code in the forums is allowing it. There is no reason for doing this. If you were having problems attaching new logs, it was not because of the old logs being posted. All you probably needed to do was refresh your page or flush your IE cache.

You only have one item in your HJT log to fix. A missing BHO from previously having Spyware Doctor installed:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)

Windows Active Desktop is not a problem. It is something that you provisioned. If you did not set your system for active desktop then just disable it.

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Open Display Properties.
    3. Click the Desktop tab.
    4. Click the Customize Desktop button.
    5. Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.
If you wish to enable the Active Desktop, check My Current Home Page. Add your current home page into your desktop or click New to add another web page and/or other Active Desktop features. To update the content, click the Synchronize button.
If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure all checkboxes in this window are un-checked.

    Hello chaslang,

Sorry, I thought I was supposed to start another thread If this was going to be a regular weekly post, I didn't realize that I was supposed to put it in my previous thread, I just thought since I did that thread last week, that would be considered an old thread

I didn't mean to delete my logs on purpose:eek:   , I mentioned that to Shadow_Puter_Dude on my previous thread that I had to delete my previous logs in order to get them to attach, sorry:eek: , I thought that since he didn't tell me otherwise, that it was alright to do, maybe just a miscommunication:confused: or maybe an oversight:confused:.

I didn't know about refreshing my page, I'll do that next time if I have problems. Also on flushing the IE cache, does that mean just deleting my temporary files:confused:.

I still don't know what windows active desktop does  .

    Thanks

    James

Yes it was okay to start a new thread but you must not delete old logs and there is no reason it should be necessary

Yes from the IE, Tools, Internet Options, General tab you can Delete files and offline content.

It allows your Desktop to be an active web page. See the below:

Anytime you have a new problem, you should start a new thread.
Or if you have the same problem on a NEW PC, start a new thread.

I really don't recommend coming here weekly just to check up on your logs. If you really want to spend the time running thru all of the READ ME each week, that's fine, it is your time and there is nothing wrong with being safe. However, I would not worry about posting logs for a check up unless the scanners actually find anything (ignore cookies which are not problems) or unless you are actually having some kind of problem.
