weird problem with gskill 2GB ram

Hey, I got a weird one for ya.

I just purchased and installed this ram today. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231021
Everything is running great as far as game play in oblivion and EQ2 but when I go to newegg.com for some reason my screen keeps going black for about 2 seconds exactaly like when I change the resolution on it. It only does this in Firefox and when I'm visiting that page. Also I found out that It will do it more frequently if I use the text scaleing feature that firefox has (hold control move mouse wheel up and down) and if I continue to do it, it gives me a blue screen of death and reboots my computer before i get a chance to even read the error code to google it. I'm running the latest version of Firefox also. The weird part though is when i put in my old ram it fixes the problem. I called newegg asking if there was anyone I could talk to about their website but they dont have techsupport. I also emailed the techsupport for gskill but from the reviews on the ram the're not very good, but I trust you guys more anyways. I'll load up an aida 32 report so you can see everything in my system, another thing I wanted to ask about. Some of the info isnt populateing like what the cpu is and other stuff but it displays that info under my computer properties. Any ideas why its doing that? I'm running the same exact memory in my DFI Ultra D.
Are you OCing your memory? or CPU?
Try manually setting your timings, SPD is probably 3-5-5-10 Which is too loose!
For the rated speed, You should manually set timings at CL3T, trcd 4T, trp 4T, tras 8T (3-4-4-8) if you can set these trc 12T, trfc 14T, Command rate 1T, trrd 2T, twr 2T at 250mhz
Then mem voltage try 2.5 v, UCCC chips like Low voltage, shouldnt ever go over 2.8v

Ah, thanks for the tips. I haven't done any over clocking with this system. I was tring to over clock my old one and did something wrong becasue I fried the mobo. As far as the timings I know the timings printed on it are 3-4-4-8 just as you said. Only problem is, I really dont know where to go in bios to change those. My mobo is an Asus a8n32 SLI deluxe. I got it for the SLi dual x16 rate that I could run 2 video cards at beyond that I dont know much (im such a noob). For a memory test utility, I looked in to that but it said something about having to put it on a floppy so I didnt bother with it because I didnt want to waste a cd but I had some problems while playing EQ2 earlier where it froze up and just kept making a continuous beep noise that didnt stop till i turned the power off. Then it wouldnt boot back up, fan was on and mobo was responding because I took the memory out and it made the beeps that let you know it doesnt have ram in it. I put my old ram back in and it worked fine, after about 30 mins i tried the gskill ram and its working now but I spaced it out so they werent right on top of each other maybe they got too hot or something i dunno so far though I havent been having good luck with this ram, making me with I would have bought the xms. I'll keep on tring though seeing as how its still working maybe the timings are off I'll google about how to do that. Thanks again for the info.

 

Hey, I just manualy set the timings in bios just like you said and it did infact solve the problem with the newegg page so I'm hoping that it also fixed the other problem that just happend. I figured that with everything being set to auto would be optimal settings but apprently not. I haven't ran a memory test yet but I'll probably do that after work tommorow seeing as how its late. Thank you very much for all the help. Haha how do you guys learn about this kinda stuff? The more I learn, the more I also find that I dont know and realize how small my knowlege really is.
