    Hi All,

When I go to this page, Internet explorer window that says "click to run an ActiveX control on this webpage" I also have a laptop that does not do this. I can't figure out what is set differently between the two machines. They both have Win XP service pack 2 and all the up dates.

    Enable active X
Enabling Active X for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0
Click Tools and select Internet Options on the Internet Explorer menu bar.
Click the Security Tab and select the Internet Zone.
Click Internet to display the settings for the Internet Zone.
Click the radio button to select Custom (for expert users).
Click the Settings button to open the Security Settings window.
Scroll to the Active X controls and plug-ins and verify that the options are set to Enable or Prompt.
Scroll to the Scripting Section and verify that Active Scripting is set to Enable or Prompt.
Note: Clicking a checked box removes the checkmark and disables the feature.
If you see checkmarks in the Enable or Prompt boxes, do not click on the checked boxes.
Click OK to close the Security Settings window.
Click OK to close the Internet Options window.

Alternatively, if the above fails, you can also try and enable movies to be played in your explorer.
In Microsoft's Internet Explorer, this options is available under:
    Tools
    Internet Options
    Advanced
    Multimedia
then place a tick in the "Play movies in Internet Explorer" field.

Are you using the same security programs on both computers?
    Firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. ?
Might be something interfering there on one and not the other?
That's all I can think of right now.

Ok, I up dated that but, same thing happens.

    OK,
    Computer #1 works using 'X' firewall, 'Y' anti-virus program and 'Z' anti-spyware program
    Computer #2 doesn't work and also uses 'X' firewall, 'Y' anti-virus program and 'Z' anti-spyware program.
'X', 'Y' and 'Z' are setup the same way on both computers.
    Is that how things are?

One doesn't have an extra security program running that the other doesn't?

Yes, they both have the same programs. I even tried shutting down all those programs.

Okay, though, I'm running Vista beta 2, I do get the same issue you are having.

I'd just go ahead, if you trust this site, to go ahead and click on that object.

For some individuals, they will see this, and always except everything, be it from MS, or some other site. The first time you check the box, always accept, you typically will not have this issue anymore. But, since this issue is a security issue. I never check the box, to always accept.

My only choice is "OK" and after that I have to click it every time. it's really annoying.

The only other thing I can think of trying is this:
If you 100% trust the site you are having this problem with then add it to your Trusted Sites in IE.
Maybe that will end this clicking ok problem for you.

I'm finding out other people are having this too now. Could it be something with an update or something?

I gave up on this problem and went to Firefox. With Fiirefox the problem went away. I wondered if it might have been the result of one of the MS updates?
