Weird sound coming from tower

Ok this weird sound started happening since we entered the winter and it got more cold but i don't know if there's any real correlation.


Anyways, every time i start the PC after i let it off for a while, a weird sound starts coming from the top right botton of the tower, probably where the cooler is, like it is hitting something or frictioning in something while spinning.

To stop the sound, i need to give a few hits with my fingers on the spot where the sound is coming from, and sometimes the sound gets weaker soon after i hit the spot and becomes stronger again a few secs after, or, after i gave a number of hits, the sound disappears.



I wouldn't have a problem keeping on this ritual indefinitely other than i'm afraid the constant impacts on the tower may eventually lead to something inside of it getting misplaced or broken and then i may have some real problems.

 

Agreed. Fans almost always become loud just before failing, though failing can take several months. My Dad had one like that, when he continued using his computer and burned it up after it became silent again (ie, stopped moving) he told me "I thought it fixed itself".

 

yeah i agree also, it sounds like a faulty fan,if you can listen close enough,with the side panel off( but don't touch anything) then you should know if it is the fan, if so turn off power to pc, unplug fan, then undo mounting screws, go buy new one and replace hope that helps
