welcome message in microsoft office

Hi, a friend of mine took his pc with win xp and microsoft office xp to a technician,
a couple of times when my friend opened microsoft word or rxcel, a window opened and display a welcome message something like "good morning, have a nice day" with his name.
The message appeared only a couple of days then Word stopped displaying the message.
We would like to know how the technician did that ?.
I know it will be easier to ask the technician but he lives in a remote area and it is not easy to get in touch with him
