Anyhoo, through all the Chaos in it I found a gem...
Sid Meyers Alpha Centauri...Back in 99 I bought that game for 50 cents at a second hand store on SaltSpring Island. haha, was still for sale for about 30 dollars or more, and not a scratch.
Obviously someone thought it sucked.....
Well for the first time(with some work) i installed and played it on XP. What a blast. It is still an awesome game. the graphics arent there like new games, but 5 hours later I had to pull myself away kicking and screaming! What a gem, Sid created a game that just lasts and lasts. Proves that grfx arent everything

I too, am a frequent Alpha Centauri flyer, Jazagod. You are correct sir. It rocks. I don't know what it is - maybe the music? but if I start playing the game on a rainy Saturday, it'll be in my CD tray for at least a week. I need to get re-aquainted with all the very distinct computer characters, before I battle on any of the higher difficulty levels. But I've pulled "all-nighters" by accident with that game; then a quick shower and shave and straight into work. It's a masterwork, and I applaud big Sid and his team. SMAC forever, yaaaaay
