A little birdie told me today that Microsoft support (which was outsourced to Convergys) in the US is gone.

Arizona, Utah, and one of the Canada centers are being shut down. Arizona, May 1st, Orem April 1st (nice notice they were given) and Edmonton will be doing comcast support.

This leaves one last center in Nova Scotia, and the rest in India.

I swear, I hope this company goes bankrupt and MS yanks their contracts.

The funny thing is--MS was getting pissed with India before I walked out a couple weeks ago.

The customers are not happy with their level of support, and MS was geting pretty hot under the collar about it.

So for me to understand this huge move (almost entirely) to India, I'm baffled. If the quality keeps falling, then the contract has been breached, and Convergys loses some major business.

    *crosses fingers*

Don't get me wrong, I have some friends in India who are awesome techs. But they are the exception, not the rule.

    Unemployed.

But then, I saw it coming and jumped ship early so that I could concentrate on school. I've gone back for Comp Engineering.

No doubt. I hope they burn for this.

This, after other companies are bending under the pressure (Dell) and started bringing these services back into the US.

CVG has been feeling this pressure for years.

Thats why I still had a job, the new Edmonton (canada) center was opened (what a bunch of arrogant, cocky, and untrained, unknowledgeable, assholes they were), and Orem was restructured.

India quality didn't get any better. It got worse.

So, they decided it was a good idea to move it?

I hope MS gives this company the axe.

    Ressurecting this thread a bit.

A friend of mine who works doing MS support in Nova Scotia told me that everything there is now being shipped to India.

I hope nobody is expecting to ever get competent support from MS ever again.

I'm curious, how does MS support help if you have spyware?

Is that the reason they created GoBack and System Restore?

Off the record, they do the same things chaslang and co. do here.

On the record, they try to remove what they can from add/remove and with supported tools (Antispyware doesnt count because its still beta).

Trust me, with the India tech centers handling it now, you DO NOT want them trying to remove spyware. They hose systems left and right when they do.

Of course, they hose systems left and right for menial stuff too. Take my word for it, I was a mentor for them. They would call me when they ran into problems on a call.

Average US or Canadian employee receives 5-6 weeks of technical training with a few hours of company policy info.

Average employee in India receives two weeks training, almost all on company policy.

    They aren't even trained!

With all my years of using computers and training I still don't know squat. I am constantly playing catch up and learning. MS is going to out source and give the employees 2 weeks of training, geez. Well I guess it saves them a ton of money.

MS doesn't even provide the training. Convergys does.

All of the trainers that knew anything were laid off.

Now its the blind leading the blind.

Sounds like something AT&T did when my dad was working for them. They laid off the only 3 guys, dad included who know the ESS system. Dad was one of the programmers who worked on the project in the 60's. Laid the entire office off then had to hire back the 'experts' to train the 'new' guys on how to trouble shoot the system.

    Rofl, ok, bud.

I know more about the working of that company than you ever will.

I also know about the piss poor training procedures.

Call me a loser if you will, you only accomplished in getting it deleted from the thread.

Keep it civil, or don't post.

Oh and to go on the record, I've not attacked anyone in this thread, or even any country. I am attacking a pathetic company. India's biggest problem is the fasct that nobody over knows anything because they are not trained properly.

My friends were trainers. They trained India initially. The company didnt let them train at all. It was nothing but a big circle jerk.

I already got over Convergys selling us out. As for unemployed...well, I just bought a newly built house in addition to the one I currently own. I don't think you want to go down that path of attacking me, it could get embarrasing :)
