Went out taking photos again yesterday...

Stockholm is quite nice this time a year, on the rare occasions where the sky is blue. That happened yesterday for the first time in a very long time, only lasted a day, but at least I managed to capture some of it!

I love this reflection, worked out so well. Might try to flip the reflection and mirror it on the top, will see if I can get that to work at some point!

Piccy of the Vasa museum, where they have a ship that sunk in the 17th century, and salvaged in the 1980's. The ships in front of it are on the left, an old light house ship, and the one on the right is an icebreaker with 2 enormous steam engines, still operational, but not actually breaking ice these days. It was built in the late 19th century.

Great photos, Solange. I envy Europeans being able to flit from country to country without passports, huge travel distances, etc. Bazza

 

BIgbazza - it really is nice to be able to do that.
I went on a surf trip this summer and realised about a day before leaving that I didn't have a clue where my passport was. So I just used my driving license instead.

The stupid part was, the border patrol at Calais to get back to the UK were asking me loads of questions about why I didn't have a passport and why I didn't bring it. She seemed mightily unimpressed when I said "but I don't need a passport for this journey" - she couldn't get her head around me not having one with me even though I owned one.

Apparently it isn't as common as I thought it would be.

Having said that - you can travel a HUGE distance without one. Granted it's all one country but it is a varied sort of place with different sorts of destinations.

I used to walk on that island during sunny summer and winter days when I lived in Stockholm. In good weather, it is a beautiful city. In bad and cold weather... it's very despressing.

 

Hi Bigshot. Your story reminds me of many years ago when my ex-USA wife, myself and #1 son went from USA to Tijuana for a one day trip.

She had an American passport, us 2 had Aussie passports. We were on our way back to the Mex-USA border gate when we realised we had all forgotten our passports.

Warning young son not to open his mouth, we all got back into the USA with the ex chatting to the American Customs/ Border guards and not having to produce our passports. Phew Bazza

Thank you, everyone! I was pleased with the outcome of them, but to be honest, on a glorious day like that, it was mainly a matter of point and click!

It was so nice to see the blue sky and the sun for a change, it has been an unusually dull Autumn this year!

This time of year, sun rises at 8.15 and sets again at 2.55. It will get a little worse, before it changes. And of course it rising doesn't mean it gets light immediately, we'll have dawn for a while... On clouded days, it feels like daylight doesn't set in properly at all, today it is overcast, it is 10 am, and it looks like evening already.

It will of course get better once we get snow, the whiteness will make everything brighter!

 

How did I miss these? Great pics, Solange. I saw a special a while back on the Vasa. What a tragic end to a great ship - to founder on her maiden voyage. Kinda like the Titanic, but without the iceberg.
