Went to the gun range today!

Finally loaded up and went to the range today. Very nice to shoot inside, as it was snowing today... in Louisiana... :-D Damn Global Warming.

Shot some nice 8" groups with the Glock 23, very nice gun except for one FTE issue. Will order a different brand of hollow point next time, it ate Gold dots and FMJ's with no problem.

Was going to take some picts of my targets but my friend brought an AR-15, and after we shot with the handguns, we burned some rounds through that. Damn accurate gun! I took out a 1" x 2" section of the target, totally gone, just a huge hole. :-D

Now I just need a long range bolt action rifle to round out my my base gun collection. Dang scopes are crazy expensive. :guns

 

Fred G, lucky devil. Australian Gun laws changed radically after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. It made gun ownership and any form of shooting, or hunting, not welcome in Australia.

Even duck shooting is now banned in a couple of States and anti-shooting protests are held every opening day, in Queensland.

Bazza, my guns put holes in paper. Skirting lightly around the issue, but I own and shoot guns... Is a hobby. Feel sorry the Australians can't join in.

I agree, and haven't heard of that story before, Bazza... Bummer I also enjoy shooting. Just don't like to waste bullets anymore. (getting kinda costly!) I mainly stick to hunting, and just target shoot to zero in a scope. Works for me, and I am surprised you didn't have the 30/30 out? Even open sites on that is cool!

 

LOL, I can only carry so many guns in! The 30 30 goes next time, along with Jesus, if shotguns are allowed.

When my son got married ~7 years ago, my wedding present to them was a Winchester 357 magnum, with their names engraved.

I'll betcha 40 years from now that will be their only remaining wedding present, and it will probably become a family heirloom!!

 

Just could not go for the traditional 'shotgun wedding' could ya! :-D

@Fred... What Bolt rifle would be looking to get?
I'm thinking of getting my lisence so I can get me a nice bolt action, I'm curious how acurate I can be at distance. Been looking at some Remingtons, kind of liking the 700 series but really have no idea about performance.
Thinking I might get a crossbow too

 

Scopes are definitely crazy expensive. I should have bought a different one for my rifle as parallax is raising it's ugly head. But I might be able to get around that one.

My pistol scope was surprisingly affordable considering it is a Leupold, and it is a tack driver at 25 meters.

I just want a good long range (1000 meters +) target rifle and I will be set.
