WGA54G game adapter problems

Ok well a while ago I bought that adapter and the LInksys WRT54GS router so I could play XBL upstairs. I got it working fine. Recently however, I switched to a static IP so my friend could join my servers in some PC games. Now I can't get my wireless XBOX adapter to work, I manually enter in the IP address/subnet mask/default gateway listed in my router's admin page on the XBL dashboard, but it gives me an error when trying to connect that says "The Network Gateway could not be reached. Verify the IP addresses match the settings provided by your ISP" Does anyone have any suggestions?
