What a twist!

i just watched the movie "The Happening" by M. Night Shyamalan, and despite getting sub-par ratings, it was actually pretty good...

although, from the previews it looked more like it was going to be a horror movie than whatever it was supposed to be.

has anyone else on the forum seen this movie? what are your thoughts on it?

 

The title sounded familiar, thought it might be a remake but after seeing the trailers, no.
Some of my favorite movies had no ratings at all. I figure as long as you enjoyed it who cares what the critics say.
Not sure I want to watch it, I lean toward comedy in my old age.

 

There seems to be a general trend these days for writers and directors to do whatever they want and give no real explanation for what was 'Happening' or very thin one,its trendy and cheap ,they spend the whole movie depicting how humans would act if this really happened which isn't my cup of tea I like a detailed,complex story with a beginning middle and most importantly and end.

They do this for example. What if one day everyone started floating six feet off the ground,what would humans do,how would people act?Its interesting but for an hour and a half? Then in the last five minutes a scientist works out its because of the over consumption of dairy product then roll credits:-D

I love sci-fi but in equal measure ,I thought the happening was all fi and no sci,I would have liked to see the whole plot of The happening in the first half hour and for the story to develop further from there.

Its score on IMDB is 5.3 out of 10 and I think its spot on.
