The British with all their problems seem to produce great bands for some reason. Might have something to do with unemployment or Her Highness Regina?

One thing I hate is gangster rap that has consumed music.

Reciting crappy poetry and profanities isn't music or singing!

 

I hate gangsta rap as well. That, and screaming music. No fun. Go hate your dad in the privacy of your bedroom. What kind of record exec gets off letting these kids into studios? Whatever.

Seeing as we have a few AC/DC fans, here are some facts.

AC/DC stands for Anti Christ/Devil Child, and were given the nickname in Australia (where they originated) as Acka Dacka.

They lost popularity (in Aus) in the late 70's-early 80's after the lead singer Bon Scott was sadly found dead.

He was not the original singer, but the second.

Brian Johnson then replaced Bon Scott as the third lead singer, just before they released Back in Black.

They say they will release a new album this year, but only time will tell.

Right now, I've got my Pioneer 25 + 1 CD Stereo stacked with 25 CD's and set to random play. All oldies, like me, from Carol King's Tapestry to Creedence, the Animals, Blind Boys of Alabama, Skyhooks, Duane Eddy, Joe Cocker live, Ladysmith Black Mombaso. Anything that random selects. Bazza

Yep, I know. Can't handle the modern stuff. Tom-tom music I call most of it. My 2 boys like it, but not me. The eldest has over 1000 vinyls of modern stuff, lots of 12 inch singles, etc., as he does a bit of DJ ' ing. He also has some old 45's as well so all is not lost on him. I love the old Aussie groups. LRB (Little River Band), Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Skyhooks, AC/DC, Cold Chisel, etc. Recent stuff is Harry Manx (Dog my Cat) and Eva Cassidy (Songbird). What a loss she was to the music industry. Had to die to become recognised, unfortunately.

Arctic Monkeys - Beneath The Boardwalk

They are a new up and coming band from the UK, hopefuly you will get them in the the rest of the world soon. To be fair most of the UK doesn't know about them yet, but they rock.

 

The Wiggles - Hot Potato.

 

I've said this before, but I'll say it again, no one produces better bands in numbers consistently than the British and Irish.

Saw them live at Bimbo's in SF. Great band... But I'll never forget this one moment... First song of the night and the band plays the into to the song while the (sexy) singer slowly slinks her way toward the mic... The guitarist is looking back toward the drummer and just as the singer was about to (slowly) grab the mic stand, the guitars whips around and smacks her in the face with the back side of his guitar neck. It wasn't really hard and she didn't get hurt... well, except for the bruises on her pride.

Fantastic band, tho, and a great show.

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head.

 

They fairly recently released "God put a smile on your face", about the only happy one I've heard.

Great song, and the lead singer has a very distinctive voice.
