Nah. It's not you, it's the nature of forums. Every thread is on an escalator to the oblivion of Page 2, which very few ever read.

Once I spend hours putting a serious poem together for Wenchie. Posted it, and she never saw it. Mentioned it a while (couple months?) later, and she said "What poem?". LOL. Happens to all of us.

I have threads that disappeared into the nether pages within 5 minutes. And they were masterpeices of intellectual stimulation. I don't do those anymore. :D

I had only been in the U.S. for a couple of weeks and the friends I was staying with were going. It was a fun weekend. Always wanted to go to Sturgis, but past lives and all that...;)

I went to Sturgis in '78, '79, '81, '82, '83, and 85. It got too regulated after that. It was a LOT of fun until 85 though,,,

  16. dperino

    dperino Capt. Caveman

    I'm sure you do,,, :D

Oh, well I went in '87. Year before did an awesome one in Quensland, Australia, with the same friends (and many others). I don't remember regulations. I do recall having to wear sunglasses at night ("eye protection") and no helmets! Long ago and far away...:D

I mean Yuma, not Sturgis, I think it's that presbeopia thing, sorry.

  21. dperino

    dperino Capt. Caveman

I am extremely unfamiliar with the word presbeopia. G.T.?? some help here???

  22. lostkiwi

    lostkiwi MajorGeek

oh crap, it's that eye thing when you reach a certain age (like 22,like me er-hem), and you need glasses to read or really, really long arms LOL. hang on, I'll google it!

  23. lostkiwi

    lostkiwi MajorGeek

PRESBYOPIA okay. Hey, I was close.:)

  24. dperino

    dperino Capt. Caveman

Oh. LOL,,, ok. I see what you mean now.

I still have no idea what the hell that means. :D

25 cent word for being farsighted and needing bifocals. The curse of aging.

I've got myopia, presbyopia, astigmatism... my glasses are a hoot. They're acceptable eye protection for shooting ranges and industrial shops.

And motorcycles. There's a plus side to most things. ;)

  26. dperino

    dperino Capt. Caveman

    Oh. Thanks. :)

I only need my glasses or my contacts when I want to see something. A world of blurry perception is my preferred state.

  27. lostkiwi

    lostkiwi MajorGeek

Do they make your eyes look really big? Ha, aging is such fun that I might give it a try when I get to be 80 or so. Until then - pah!

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

Glasses to correct presbyopia make your eyes look a bit bigger, correction for myopia makes them look smaller. My vision is currently 20/950, so mine make my eyes look tiny. I hate that. I've been stuck with glasses since 4th grade. Hate that too, but without then, I could stumble over a Volkswagon.

Yeah, my husband just got new ones after 3 years of groping around blindly (until I told him to stop that!) Then he comes up to me and says "oh my god, is that what you look like!!!!!" So then, he got another pair of glasses.... :D :D

    Wow! Far out! :D

I know a lot of people with 20/20 vision who have blurry perception. Must be a state of mind.

What about laser surgery? I had a friend who was classed as legally blind without her glasses and now she doesn't need any. I think it would be scary though.

Would probably help, but wouldn't cure mine. I don't fancy eye surgery and then still have to wear glasses, unless they get so bad it becomes necessary anyway.

Yes but see how much smarter you with all those extra brain cells. You can do more things like remember your name and where you live and where you left your kids (oops, I mean) car keys and important stuff like that! Still the remaining ones I have work pretty well except for dull stuff and I figure that stuff won't be missed anyway!
