What anti virus do I need??

I am confused. My PC-cillin is expiring and I need anti virus today!!! I am looking at the AVG free edition, will that protect my computer in all areas or do I need something for internet security also. Please help.

AVG Free is an antivirus program. It is not an antispyware program or a firewall. We do not recommend the use of Internet Security Suites as they do not provide any greater protection than a few free tools. And the internet security suites are always massive resource hogs which slow PCs down. More than 75 % of the people coming into the malwae forum complaining of slow PCs were not slowed down by malware. They were slowed down by the internet security suite applications.

DO NOT INSTALL any other antivirus until you have removed ALL of PC-Cillin. Download what you plan to use first, then disconnect your cable to the internet and uninstall PC-Cillin. Then reboot. Then install the replacement tools. Then reconnect your cable to the internet.

Thank You for the info on the spyware and such. One more question. I have firewall already on my computer, it is in Windows Security Center and it says it is Windows firewall. Is that one good enough, should I get a better one and shut the other windows firewall down??
