What are "terminal services"?

    Hi,
Recently I had an error message continually popping up. So I ran:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
    to fix.
The process fixed but now my system is running radically slower.
In an attempt to continue to fix I installed Diskeeper lite. When I launched Diskeeper Lite I received the following message:

"Diskeeper Lite does not allow access via Terminal Services. Purchase the full version of Diskeeper from www.diskeeper.com and you can be using this feature withing minutes."

So, here is my two part question...
    1. Does Diskeeper Lite run for free? Or do I have to buy the program? If I have to buy it I can, but I thought this was the free program.

    2. What the hell is/are Terminal Services? Is this a sign that I'm truly not cleaned up?
    Thanks,
    GVgeek

Terminal Services is a means of remote accessing a windows service, its part of remote desktop connection (rdp). If this is a server type os, it means you need to log in phyiscaly at the box to run that app, or pay for the full featured version which allows remote running.

I'm running vista on my own private machine; not attaching to any network other than the one I have at my house. I have to log in to get access to the machine but not anything else.
I'm not running a remote desktop.
    Still confused.

    From here http://majorgeeks.com/Diskeeper_Lite_d1207.html
it looks like the Lite version is free but very old.
If you go to the diskeeper site, you are offered a 30 day trial.

There are other, newer and free defraggers out there to replace Diskeeper Lite.
    I run Puran http://majorgeeks.com/Puran_Defrag_Free_Edition_d6360.html
    and am happy with it.

I suspect the term "terminal services" is used by Diskeeper Lite because it is old software.

    Current info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Desktop_Services
Remote desktop is a feature; if you have problems with your computer, tech support can access your desktop and try to fix the problem. I've seen this is action when an HP tech tried to fix a problem with an HP AIO not working on the home network so computers could not use it to print.
