Just been looking at services and noticed these weird services that are there, never seen them before. Anyone know what they are and what they do?

    Batpiaw28 - disabled
GEAR security - started and on automatic
    MySql - disabled

Only just noticed these tonight and I have never seen them before. Any info on these services would be great. I am running WinXP SP1.

Ok the Gear service will be something to do with my new DVD burner I have recently installed. The Mysql will probably be something to do with my webhost, I have my own webspace. But the Batpiaw28 is something that is totally confusing. Haven't got a clue what it does.

    No, it doesn't.

    Its part of iTunes software.

Maybe your DVD burner came with it, but its not directly related.

    Go to start, run, services.msc.

See if there is a description listed.

There is no explanation for Batpiaw28. There no dependencies for it either. Totally stumped as to what this service is.

When you find something you do not know, I would be concerned, those odd file names like that have been used by spyware and trojans lately. I would stop the service and see if your machine runs ok. I would verify that its not in your startup items by going to start, run and typing msconfig and checking stratup tab. These trojans are typically in C:\Windows\System32\.

I would also consider a complete trojan scan with a trojan program like A2 or Trojan Remover.

Ok I have downloaded and run the Trojan Remover and it found nothing. Also have run Adaware and spybot, found nothing.
