What are you doing for the 4th July long weekend?

    Here in Australia it is already, July 4th. It is just a normal Tuesday, working day.
    I happened to be in the USA in 1976 (200th Anniversary).

    I couldn't see a July 4th, 2006 post, so I thought I would start one off.

    Tell us non-USA people, what you are doing this day. Bazza

    Still July 3 in the states. Planning on grilling out, watching the fireworks display at a local lake, and taking it easy on the 4th.:)

    Hey Bazza...still July 3 here and I'm working today, so no long weekend for me. Tomorrow I am going to celebrate my being able to be in the USA with lots of hard yardwork, followed by an awesome organized firework display upstate with the family, down by a river. We went last year and it was just so cool.

    Trying very hard not to kill a friend of mine's wife and all her friends. Hopefully people will keep a civil tongue in their heads and I can enjoy the party for what it is, a chance to watch some fireworks and eat some good food with a friend.

    A lot of people got a 4 day weekend. In my case I didn't even get the option since my boss left for his vacation this week and I will be flying solo all week long. I hope that certian items don't fail as I have no idea how to fix them.

    most people here took off last friday, since we only work till 7-11 anyway (those with flex summer hours), thus, they have a 5 day weekend. not me. but i plan on doing nothing tomorrow.

    Well, the phone system has alread gone down once. Thank God the time clock system is still up and running though. The hot scale is still good to go too. Now if my users would quit crashing their workstations, I would be golden.

    Well, sort of, within reason.

    Normal work day today (still Monday here Baz), combination cookout, birthday party, and fireworks with my neighbors tomorrow. They bought mostly firecrackers and ground level stuff the kids can play with, I bought some aerial stuff; the round balls that launch from a tube like a small mortar. Supposed to be 15 people there, so nothing with the potential for shrapnel.

    For those of you who aren't old fa*ts, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION!!! .....we've spent the majority of the weekend at the hospital, where two very close friends of our daughter were admitted late Sat. night after a major auto accident. Both were under the influence ....hit a pickup broad side, killing one of the passengers of the pickup ...One 18 yr. old was kept on life support until the family could be notified and organ transplant issues could be addressed ...the other is still in ICU..and will probably be charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, assuming she makes it.
    Needless to say, many are in trauma about this, not just the families. There were over three dozen kids at the hospital, some with parents.
    To those of you who think you are invicible due to your age ....please consider the impact of your life on those around you ... and the loss of same.

    Amen to that. I've been a "designated driver" all my life. If you're gonna drink, plan to walk, stay put or have somebody stay sober to drive everybody home. Two people I work with had relatives in bad car wrecks this past weekend, and are off today dealing with it. Don't know the details, but whether you're drunk, or just dodging the drunks, it's already started. Stay safe out there. :(

    Wife, Son and Me all managed to get the day off together - going to a BBQ and watch fireworks at a friends house - Sleep in late in the morning, though !!!!:)

    Thanks Scott ....seems like she has lost more friends in her short 18 years than any of us adults around her ever have .....either to accidents, suicide, stupidity, (teen pregnancy) .....it's a different world than what I grew up in .....It frankly scares the crap out of us to think how easily and how often this seems to be happening these days.
    So all you new drivers ....all you young invincble teenagers ....don't be someone whose parents have to make the decision as to when to pull the plug ....if you'll be an organ donor ....and how to continue life while outliving their sons and daughters. Sorry if this is "preachy" ...it is just such a waste.
