When I first noticed I was a SENIOR MEMBER ...I thought it was in deference to my elderly years. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH:mad:

If you guys had been in the US Air Force, you would know.
    E-1 Airman basic
    E-2 Airman
    E-3 Airman 1st class
    E-4 Senior Airman

I didn’t set it up, but I think that where the Senior Member came from……wobbles

I think "senior member" was probably a system default that they overlooked changing, then left it there for the confusion and conversation value. :D

I think the word senior used to indicate clout, experience, recognition of putting in time, a position exacting deference. Now it refers to senior moments, clouded understanding, people who were born before computers and are still staring at them in wonder, like a supernova.
My self-esteem is being attacked by a teenager and I don't have the advantage of experience to put him back in his place. <weep weep>
It must be the dream of every parent to have their child surpass them, but can't they be nice about it? hahaha

I am a 'Brigadier', who obviously wears the britches, - ha! :p

(Welp, it used to be a banana, so I'm not complaining, LoL! ;) )

Yeah, A.F.A.I.K., 'Senior Member' was a little oversight that never got changed, for some reason, but in me and G.T.'s case it was kinda appropriate, eh.

Yeah, I'm a year older than UNIVAC, LOL. My "computer course" in college used punch cards from remote keyboards and card readers and printers outside the sealed "computer room". No mice, no monitors. Things have changed a bit.

Eh. It's hard to put some teenagers in their place no matter what you are or what you say/do. They usually outgrow it eventually. And homicide is such a TEMPORARY pleasure. ;) Hang in there. :)

Yep, I remember having to do Slide Rule classes at college, LoL! Fortunately by then log books were on the way out, but I remember having to look up all those numbers, eh. A lot of young people won't even know what I'm talking about, ROFL. ;)

That's OK. The shot missed. Insults only work if you let them. While I AM an old fart, there are lots older around here. :)

My ex ended up with my slide rule and drafting equipment (basic high-school stuff). I assume she threw them away. Slide rules were WAY cool before calculators were invented, but I sometimes had a hard time figuring out where to put the decimal point. :)

I used punch cards for my research too and then made the cards into a Christmas tree and spray-painted it green as was common to do back then.
    lol

It's a mistake to think teenagers change. It's the parents that grow sickly and weak. LOL

Oh no! I'm a Corporal. I meant to avoid that ... <fondly remembers the days as Senior Member> :D

Well my ex has left the scene long ago, but my trusty slide rule that I bought when I was 15 in Cal. is still in my desk drawer right next to me. Man, that's like 32 years ago!

Q: "What comes after Senior Member?"
A: "Gold Member" ...Now that was one silly movie, LoL!

I wish I had a dollar for every punch card I joggled and fed through a punch card sorting machine. And if they took 5 dollars away for every that was damaged, I guess I'd owe someone a lot of money. :D

Anyone remember the Memorex multi spindle disk drive platters that you had to change in the computer room, every so often. Around 35 years ago. Wonder what happened to all of them? Anyone remeber what was the capacity of them?

My first year of college, I watch a guy dump a hole cart of punch cards over in the comp center. It was kind of wierd seeing a grown man cry like that.

    Oh dear :(
There are six forms of sergeant after specialist! Maybe by then, I will learn to spell it sergeant instead of sargeant. I wonder, though, if I'm not more of a tangent than a sergeant. Maybe I could become the tangent specialist. I could then work my way up to tangent specialist first class and so on.
    lol :D
