she is my immediate supervisor and is supposedly doing peer review of my code. the division head is even more clueless as to programming than she is.

There is a ton of office politics going on and I am sort of refusing to play. I figure if I don't play then my conscience will be clean and clear when I leave. :-D

I went to the CSI Experience at MGM Grand today. They have a big interactive exhibit where you pick one out of three "crime scenes", and take notes, go through the lab and analyze evidence while reading articles and watching videos (with cast members from CSI Vegas) about forensic science and what it can do. And in the end you submit your "case report" and get a diploma for solving the case, and can buy souvenirs in the gift shop. :)

I now have a tank top and a ridiculously over-priced shot glass (at least The Guy thinks so :p) with the CSI logo on them. Hopefully next time we're here we can go through the other two crime scenes. :major

Also, BM, when I read about the spell checking, I literally spluttered the vodka from my new shot glass onto my laptop monitor. You are so lucky it didn't hurt anything!-Droflmao And for the record, that kind of stupidity should be illegal. Really.

One thing I learned in life by me at work. Learn the game and play it to your benefit. Or don't learn politics. The game plays you. As far as the upper bosses go. They mostly aren't stupid. See whats going on. Your need it to call attention on what was done. And let them deal with it.

I just spent a little over an hour explaining to someone that if her daughter wants an iPad, she can't just buy her any tablet that happens to be on sale and expect her to be happy. Apparently, she thinks that all tablets (and computers, and smart phones) are created equal and her daughter should be happy with whatever she chooses.

While on the surface I understand her thought process, I finally got her to understand by asking her what brand of peanut butter she buys. I then asked her if she would be happy with a different brand because it was on sale. To which she replied, "well, no! I love mine! Nothing else is as good!" After about a ten-second pause, I think she finally got it. LOL

*Which is not to say that iPads are the best, simply that they are what her daughter wants, and the only thing she will be happy using.

None of the 6 pairs of shoes I ordered to try on fit/were comfortable/looked good! :cry

Now I have to ship every pair back.

On a side note, I LOVE zappos.com and their free shipping here and back. :-D

I spent my day driving kids all over the place and going to kid games. Now it's my turn, so I will be heading to a Phillies game and having a few ballpark beers. :)

Apart from going through 123 emails due to me deciding not go go online at home for a week, work commitments and load as well as fatigue I spend today loading Zune and playing with my new mobile (for US members CELL phone) a HTC HD7 I like Windows Mobile as I can use Office 2010 and I like the OS.

Had Apple iPhone and still have it but the Zune interface for controlling and syncing the WM7 phone is far better than iTunes by a mile, while it doesn't have the amount of apps the iPhone has its apps are still growing and good, found some corkers today that are of use to me.

Finalising a post for my blog on installing Windows Home Server 2011 a basic guide, have all the screenshots from the install, just need to polish the text.

Need to still deal with a few outstanding things namely a image for a member here on the MG forums, not forgotten and was working on it today but tempusfugit creeps up and I need "me" time now and going to watch a film or tv.

Cut a branch off a gnarled old elderberry tree, the centre of the branches were all hollow. Sliced off two pieces about a inch thick (still don’t like metric) chopped a large chunk off the main branch, attached the two slices close together at the top, looks like some kind of weird owl. Named it twit and stuck it up in a holly tree. Ah well such is life :seeya

Started to hang out in the yard only to be thwarted by a surprise line of rain. After lunch, went back out only to be thwarted by a bee invasion of epic proportions. Apparently, something has decided I must convalesce in the house today.

Today was excellent! Saw my surgeon, and he says barring disaster I should be back at least 95% in the next three weeks, and he never wants to see me again. :-D Which means after three weeks I am DONE with the liquid diet and am no longer on an official weight restriction for lifting. So finally back to work (at light duty for now while I come all the way back), eating solid food, and allowed to have a cocktail again!

Then I went and bought myself an HTC Thunderbolt, because I needed a new phone. The one I replaced was a Motorola Razr. LOL

Now if only the Sharks can beat the Canucks, life will be pretty darn good!

Just for the hell of it - and I DID expect it to be hell - I reinstalled the Netgear DG834 modem that couldn't cope with the summer heat a few months ago.
Today it's working without a hiccup. It's working even better than the instal program realises. That went through all the checks and told me to check all connections were secure, even though all the lights were on and green. I opened the browser instead and it's been cruising. Smooth as silk. Go figure!

I'm going to a shooting range soon. It will be my first time and I can't wait to go. Whenever I tell someone, I always get the same look like "oh crap, she's gonna learn how to shoot a gun" and I can't imagine why, it's not like I'm dangerous :innocent LOL

For the first time, I finally felt like I was smarter than my new phone (I bought at HTC Thunderbolt about two weeks ago)! Which is even more remarkable if you know that I apparently strained either the muscles or the scar tissue from my surgery taking down storm windows and had to take the narcotic pain relievers again. LOL
