I personally spend more time on the computer then I do watching TV.

Unless it is monday, where SCI-FI channel has replays of Stargate SG:1 (until I buy the rest of the seasons)

Also, Friday I watch SG:1 and SG:Atlantis. Other than that, I rarely, if ever watch TV.

Though, I do wish there was a cheaper package where you can pick the channels you want.

I rarely watch TV. There is so much garbage on TV these days; it's depressing.

As of right now, one person said TV. But, there are only 3 posts. So, I assume they are to shy to admit they watch more tv than use their computer. :)

I do admit that I'm a computer adict.

Even if you discount the 9 hours a day I look at one at work, more computer than TV. I have DSL, but no cable or satellite TV.

Computer for sure. I only ever watch sports on TV, and there's not that much soccer on.

Well, I had to vote for computer, because I spend more time on the computer than watching TV. The only reason I watch TV is that I live somewhere that we have one. I personally do not own one.

However, the poll question is "what do you spend most of your time on", not "which one of these do you spend more time on". Had I had the option for what I spend most of my time doing, I'd have had to say "reading a book." :)

TV more than puter. there is a variety of programs i like, most of the dramas (ER, NYPD,westwing, nip/tuck, rescue me, the shield, etc.), some of the comedy (the daily show especially, sex in the city,) some of the decorating shows (trading spaces etc.) some of the cooking shows... the trouble with me is i can only watch an episode of anything once, possibly twice, but thats it. I'm the same with books, so i am constantly searching for new entertainment. i don't watch mini series unless i can see it all at once, coz otherwise i always miss at least one episode. i only use the puter to do puter things on, and occasionally you guys when i have the time, or like now when I'm killing it! (76 channels AND THERES NOTHING ON) :)

Since I'm on 2 computers all day at work and usally puttzing around the house at home... I try to spend little on both.

On average I spend about 2 hours and evening shared btwn TV & PC. This time of year, more time on the PC as Re-run season is upon us. I usally record the shows I want to watch so I can save myself time and skip the comercials.

I read an article somewhere in 1999 or 2000 that stated that the TV was the most used component in the house even when a computer is in the house. So, this was the reason I made this poll.

I also read more than I watch tv.

Things have shifted some since 2000, and more people are online, and particularly online with high-speed. Plus, polling a Geek forum will give you slanted results. We're not typical of the general population.

Reading... LOL. Lately I've been mostly reading ebooks on my computer. :D

I am on my computer way more then I watch TV. Throw in the fact I use computers at work also . . . I might as well have a PC surgically attached to my back . . .

Used to be computer, but since I get this 55" badboy, Onkyo 1000w receiver, and an LG up conversion dvd player, thats all changed.

HDMI is a beautiful thing

@Sgt. Tibbs: Exactly as planned. Then again, I had quite a few beers when I posted that.

Computer, by a longshot. But then, the TV is usually on in the background while I game. And come to think of it, there are TVs on in my office, so I don't think I spend a waking moment in an average day not on the computer and with a TV on, except for when I'm commuting. Then I'm buried in a book.

I see a pattern evolving in this poll,It would be more fair if there was simultaneous poll on tv on the channel couch potatoes TV 2 "helpling you void your couch warranty since "about" 1950"

Its listed as this w/ the speaker package:

    Onkyo HT-S780

The receiver itself is the Onkyo HT-R530.

Not the greatest, but much better than my POS Kenwood.

I may be vile and pernicious
    But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say

I am the best you can get
    Have you guessed me yet?
    I'm the slime oozin' out
    from your TV set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help...no one will heed you

    Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

Well, the 1000 watts perked me up. This system does say 1000 watts, but it is 7.1 channels with 110 watts per channel, so I'm trying to figure out where the extra 120 watts is allocated.

This is better than what I have, I have a Sony STR-DE945 110 watts 5.1 (going to upgrade to a 7.1 110 watts sony after I get a pool table). With BOSE speakers, just need to buy 2 more. So, basically this perked me up, for a possible upgrade. My guess is that your subwoofer is an active woofer vice a passive one.

I'm not an audiophile, so, was just curious. Also, I need to upgrade my current 300 dvd changer to a 400. Hate it that I can't play .mp3s and VCDs. Unfortunately, this will be a $1000 upgrade. UGH!

    Ouch.

It is 7.1, but it has two, separate analog speaker outputs, too. I'm guessing thats where the extra wattage is going.

    Mmm. Big speakers.

Speaking of--anyone know anything about wireless speakers? I have a surround sound system at home and my two "surround" speakers require me running 60 ft. of speaker wire through my house (which with 2 very small kittens around is just begging for trouble). Are there any wireless alternatives that I could look into?

  29. Adrynalyne

    Adrynalyne Guest

Yes, but I have not heard good things about any wireless solutions.

Check Kenwood, they have a wireless transmitter/receiver solution.

    Kenwood RFU-6100 Wireless System

Its only 50w per channel, which seems quite weak, imo.

More than likely, you can power another set of speakers elsewhere. I have two extras also, that will be eventually running down to the basement speakers. So, I have an a/b/a+b switch. A is for main speakers, B is for Aux speakers. Supposedly, I can run all of them, but the Aux is only stereo sound. Perhaps yours is similar.

    @Tabasco

Creative labs has wireless sound, in a way. You hook it up to your computer, then you can pipe the sound to your home stereo or other units:

    Adrynalyne Guest

Yeah I have an A/B or A+B switch, too. Running a+b kills two channels though, limiting me to 5.1 surround, so thinking back, thats not where the extra power is going.

I spend more time on tv cause the pc is in a study room. I can spend days in pc at once but overall the tv wins.
