Hi everyone. It has been a while since I have been here, but I need help.

My computer crashed and the screen said something was wrong with a device driver. I got this message:C:\windows\minidump\mini06180501.dmp
I have no idea what this means so any help is greatly appreciated.

what was the error message in full, what device driver did it mention?

also enter Device Manager and look for any red x's or yellow ! marks, then what device are they next to?

Did you install anything new before this happened?

I did not install anything new before this happened. How do I look in the device drivers? I am computer illiterate. Could having too many things going at once cause something like this? Also,it didn't say which device caused it. It said something like it was unable to figure out the exact cause of the problem.

What does it mean when it says it is dumping memory? It said something of that nature with numbers counting by the message. Thanks for your help.

goto start>control panel>admin tools>computer management ... in the left hand column you will see "device manager" in the drop down menus .. highlight it ... and on the right you will see a list of all the devices that your computer recognizes .. then check for red x's and yellow !'s

you also want to run CCleaner and check for spyware to make that simpler just download ad aware and run it and reference the latter if you need

"dumping memory" just means it writes a log of your memory to disk when it crashed

how many programs are you running exactly? pressing ctrl+alt+del will bring up the task manager ... clicking on the applications tab will show you everything that's running on your system

I checked the device manager and there we no red x's or yellow !. I downloaded the new Ad-Aware last night after the crash and ran it. It got rid of alot of stuff. I also ran Spybot as well.

I had about 5-6 webpages open and a Launchcast music player when it crashed on me. I usually have alot of stuff open and it never did this before. I will look and see how many programs are running and what they are. I am about to run a virus scan just to make sure that everything is ok. Thanks.
