My PC is taking longer to boot than it used to, or at least I suspect it does:).

Other than the programs that are set to run on start-up, which I know I haven't changed, are there any other factors which influence the speed at which windows starts up?

The very best overall article that I've read regarding this subject is this very recent one from August 2007 at smartcomputing.com:

Smart Computing Article - Optimize The Boot Process

Please Note: The article above has a bunch of ads for "extra stuff" that you probably do not need but the extensive information provided (regarding optimizing boot times) is still quite valid IMO.

This article is quite good as well: PCGuide - Opt - Enhance and Streamline the Boot Process

    Good Luck!
