and i noticed about 10 ppl on that page I haven't seen once since I joined here. Did they just stop coming here or what? like that one person has like 12,000 posts but i haven't seen her on here once. if u dont want me to know thats ok, im just curious thats all.

 

Him, actually, twinny has a rather hectic life from what I've heard, but I've never really been that close so I can't really pass comment.

As for good ole Rumps, he doesn't come round here any more, prolly moved on.

yeah i get what u guys are getting to. never really thought of that before. it just suprised me that some of the people were the top ten posters. so for someone to just abandon an account like that.... just seemed weird.

 

Awhile back there was a lot of immature posting and people fight and getting banned. That made some members not want to come back here. So I've heard.

yeah, i love it too. i think there was someone else that had it too but i forget.

 

Eric and I don't post as much as we used to. It ebbs and flows, I suppose. Sometimes it just seems like I don't have anything to add to the conversations or that there isn't anyone posting who I really know. I miss the old crew, but there are some newbies who are pretty cool. Maybe this winter when we're all forced inside from the cold some of the old regulars will drop in more often. It does seem like we've lost the old morning crew completely though. Can't remember the last time there was a "Good Morning" thread with Randy and Abbysue posting. Twinny was usually in on those too. Just doesn't seem like things get going 'til the afternoon.

 

We miss you too. How's about we all try to come around more often.

People come & go. Some voluntarily, some not. Some temporarily, some not. Things DO usually pick up some during the winter months.

 

Yep, I would guess that Abby is quite a bit more cuddly than a spaceship So, how are things going in the spaceship dept. anyway? Anything new? I suppose there is a lot of clean-up going on.

Wow, That's great! How are you going to be involved in this one? Launch integration? or something more exciting?

BTW, did you guys get the picture that Kolya drew for you? Can't remember when I sent it out. I think it might have been before we went on vacation.

 

Kolya just started school this past week. Seems to like it alright so far. It's not the class that I had hoped to get her in, so she's not with the kids that she already knows, but she's adjusting pretty well. She makes friends easily. She's not real happy that the teachers yell at the kids sometimes though. I figure it's only one year and next year she'll be going to kindergarten at our church's school, but I'm still keeping a close eye on things. I think it will be a good chance for her to learn to follow directions and stretch her attention span a little in that kind of environment. Still, it was me who cried on her first day when I dropped her off, not her. It's also given me some time to give Drexel the attention that he needs. He's my quiet, sneaky one. We're having a lot of fun together during the day, but he misses his sister. He's been asking about going to school, too, and there is a nice program that he could go to next year, so I'm thinking about that. They're growing up fast!

 

Sending the kids off to school for the first time is usually more traumatic for the mothers than for the kids. They do grow up fast....

 

Broke down right in front of one of the teachers right after she walked out of the room to go to music class. The teacher was comforting and told me that it was obvious that Kolya was going to be fine, she's obviously a pretty independant kid. Kolya had given me a big grin before she went off to music class. She still hasn't cried when I've dropped her off. She used to cry when I brought her to ballet class and I was right outside the door!

 

LOL. Poor Mamma.

When my son started Kindergarden, I was between good jobs, and was working 4 to midnight at a woodworking shop. For the first few months I took him to school on the back of my motorcycle, which he LOVED. He thought he was so cool. Just a few blocks, all on side streets, with him in a small helmet and gripping my belt tightly (or he would NOT be doing it again). Memories...

 

I BET he thought he was cool! That IS cool! It's been nice walking Kolya to and from school. It's only a couple of blocks away, and it's a nice time for us to chat. Drexel goes with us to drop her off, and then he's napping when I pick her up, so she and I get to talk about her day on the way home and over a snack at home. It's been really nice. It's been a break for me as well. I think Kolya and I are appreciating eachother more, too. The other day, she mentioned that she noticed that she listened to her teachers better than she listened to me. I told her that I thought it was because they were new. She said that maybe it would help teach her to listen to me better. (boy do I hope so! ) She's such a character!

 

That she is. And a strong willed character. It's always tough figuring out just HOW tough to be, and what's reasonable, but discipline is your responsibility momma. I know your parents were pretty overbearing, but don't err on the side of being overly tolerant in conpensation for their shortcomings. That's not fair to either the kids or to you. Discipline is especially tough for a strong willed child, but they MUST learn it.

 

I know it. I think it's been a good thing for her to hear some of the same things from someone else besides me. Sometimes I think she might tune me out because she hears it from me so much. She knows that if I say I'm going to do something, I'll do it. She still tests it though. Sad day after school the other day, she lost her candy privelege and dress-ups for the day because she threw a fit about leaving the playground. Later that day, someone gave her a piece of candy and I told her that she would have to save it until the next day. She was really kicking herself, "WHY DIDN'T I OBEY!?!" But I am a softie sometimes, and she's got a sharp tongue that I don't address as much as I should. I think I enjoy that fire too much, but still, that's not a good excuse... Thanks for the reminder.

 

You have my sympathy. Kolya is a double barreled challenge. Strong willed, and so darned cute it's hard to be tough with her. Just keep reminding yourself that some of the things that are cute now, won't be nearly so cute when she's 13.

I've had several cousins that fell into that category. They get really frustrated when all of a sudden, they're not cute anymore, and the bad behavior is already pretty well set in place. It's far easier to train them young. Not EASY, but easier.

Yep, things change. People realise that, while it can be rewarding to chat with people over the globe, we also occasionally get global pains, so to speak.

But mainly that life outside of the cyber-nexus is more important. I do miss some of my old friends in some ways, but that's life. Nothing is forever - except, maybe death (taxes?). We say "hi" to each other occasionally, as old fiends do.

You know, I think it's harder when they ARE independent. Becauase they just wave and go to school and say Bye Momma! and you're a mess, and damnit, they should be too! you et that little self depreciating ping.

But then you realise it means you did a good job.

I miss the old crew. I miss spamming with twinny, and the old goats. The gif wars, jovial banter... I remember when Kodo was 5,000 posts behind me, now look at him...

But I mean... first there was the irox & other annoying children invasion, then i love you guys - but todd and smiles dragged everyone into there UGLY breakup, then 187 came out and we were all supportive until being gay meant he was ONLY gay, and something about it always had to be said... GRAPHICALLY.. and behind all that, one by one, people got quiet and dropped away.

I miss the old days... but hopefully it will even out and the new crew wont be as disappointing as new people past...

Lots went to a new site (won't give the link). I got invited, went there, posted a critical suggestion in my first post, got banned, no right of reply. Ah well, their loss. Visited their siteagain, recently. Noticed they have half implemented my suggestion. Such is life, Ned Kelly, such is life. Bazza

Real Life can be fun too. New job for me - very challenging and demanding, but satisfying. Get to use much more of my training and education, but have had to spend a LOT of time updating my wetware, so to speak.
