What Happened???

Yes, I see the new interface BUT all my posts, avatar, thread subscriptions etc., etc. are all gone. Also, I have not found any way to see the most recent post(s). I have tried the settings at the bottom to no avail.

 

Nice clean look, guys, but I don't understand a lot of the switch results. I'm now listed as Member, are there levels of member ? Also I've notice my Likes and Thanks are gone. I like the look a lot I just feel like I stepped into The Twilight Zone.

 

What happened is, MGs has upgraded to a better forum software. It had some side-effects for the interface, but when they are done moving everything over, the forums will end up being better for everyone, mainly because they will b emore secure.

For what it's worth, I think this interface is an improvement. The new font and color scheme is making posts easier to read on my new monitor.

Yep, I did notice that area and actually tried it first. So, agreed - stress factor aside - it is what it is. I hope you can come across some means to retrieve and try another import. Seems like there outta be some way to get 'er done.

Just to let you know. Now I'm getting "the following error occured" dialogs that I must wait 848 and 454 seconds (countdown) etc., before posting a reply.

Go to each of the forums you do look at. Click on "watch" in the upper right for every one of them. Now click "watched forums" on the left side in the green bar up top.

That sounds like a setting that can be fine tuned if needed. And if not... I can see how it might become frustrating over time, depending on someone's posting habits.

I just noticed that the count of thanks given and received did not transfer over.

If you wanted me to be more active in the support forums you could have just said so, you know.

Looks good, but will take some getting used to...

 

Heck, I hadn't even heard of any upgrade forthcoming. I would have backed up some stuff, and taken some screenshots for posterity. The only clue I had that something was up would be that my Favorite buttons were not working, and those 404 errors.

Guess I missed some posts...

I like the new forum. Obviously it's going to look and act a little different from the old one, and obviously it's going to take few days to configure everything, that's to be expected.

I think our new home will end up being a very good one.

 

This was a surprise. I think I'm going to like it however.

Don't anybody take me wrong ... Very clean look. Just will take time to polish.

 

FYI I am in South Africa and everything has been working perfectly.
The new Forums look great, and in a week or two... we'll not miss the old.

 

WOWZA! Great work! The color contrast is very readable and easy on tired old eyes.

I haven't had any negative issues yet but wanted to thank you for making it more readable.

Just noticed my demotion - now I'm being paid closer to my true worth.

 

Dog gone. I just noticed that I got a demotion too. That's what I get for showing off and climbing the wall with my back to it and heels, instead of toes, on the rungs.

Eldon, I agree...the readability is really nice. A couple of weeks might be too forgiving - I think we'll be into the zone of comfort in a week - if not less. South Africa - ya know, that's what's kinda cool here - people all over the world with all levels of computer expertise helping one another. I think our governments could learn a thing or two from MG.

By the way, how timely of a release for the new MG interface - right when the people of Paris are in such sorrow. Maybe the new interface could temporarily honor their strength, their will to conquer odds, and help to perk up a face or two in the meantime. God bless all of those hurting souls. Hang in there Paris.

Thank you sir ... very nice UI - and EXTREMELY pleasing to the eye ... I felt it deserved another yahoo!!

Also, thanks for a place that TRULY helps solve problems. VERY unlike other sites that are "wanna be's". It is really fun to come here and be able to make each individual's world of computing a daily growing experience through others knowledge. It gets rough sometimes as those people with knowledge teach us their computer experience and know how - but - anything in life that is worth anything at all is hard work with results of rewarding achievement - via constructive criticism.

If anyone thinks those comments are too mushy and not techie enough then all I can say - politely - is - get a life - it's as free as this website.
