Does a black area on the top of the cylinder mean it is burnt out?

never seen a capacitor turn black before... they usually bubble up at the top like their going to explode.

I've had them light up like a match, flames and all. Not on a MB though...

I have seen them bulge like they were pumped full of air, leak oil or what ever they leak, and still work. I think they give up when they want to. ed
