What website did you download Adobe Reader from? Do you have antivirus software installed on your computer? If you do, then do a thorough (deep) scan now. If you do not have antivirus software installed then go to the following site to do an online scan of your system:

    Post your findings here.

Are Start Menu items also affected? Does Adobe Reader launch when you click on the desktop icons?

Did you do a full scan of your system using MSE? Do that if you haven't already done it. Remember to update your viral definitions prior to scanning. After that, even if the MSE scan is negative for infection, I'd like you to do the online scan that I mentioned in my previous post.

Even though sites say you need Adobe Reader, another smaller and less malware ridden pdf reader will work fine. I have not installed Adobe in about 10 years and so far have not had a problem.

I'd uninstall Adobe and replace it with Sumatra.

I'm 100% with ploder. Get rid of Adobe Reader and use Sumatra. BTW, which new programs did you install (the apps that told you to install Adobe Reader?

Glad to hear that things are back to normal for you. Did MSE delete the infected file?

Did the trojan ride along with the service manual? You have to be very careful where you download files.
There are only a handful of sites I trust. If I am forced to download from another site, I scan the file with my av and malwarebytes.

    Bookmark this site http://virusscan.jotti.org/en
It will scan a file up to 25MB in size and show you if any of the 23 different programs used finds anything in the file.

There's also VirusTotal service which allows upload of files up to 64 MB file size, with a total of 49 antiviral software engines.

I have no idea where the infection came from, and either do you. That's why it's important to make sure that your system is clean. Do another full scan with MSE.

    Thanks and understood :)
Let me know how things go with the instructions I linked to.
If you have a log of what Eset detected, could you attach it to a subsequent post?

Try booting into safe mode and merging the registry file.
