I keep getting pop ups. A few days ago I wasn't getting them and I think something installed itself on my computer. I keep getting pop ups fro virus removers that I know are fake. Pop ups from Adultfriendfinder and what is usually at the top of the window is webtopsecurity.com...How do I get all of this to stop? Also, the BestOffers still won't let me remove it from the add/remove programs in my control panel. It still takes me to the same thing and I can't get it off. I'm trying to do a Wipe and reload but I have no clue how the procedure goes. They say i should save everything to a disk..but I don't have anything up here worth saving. Unless Windows XP won't be on the computer anymore..that's about all i have on here worth saving. Should I wipe and reload to make sure I have gotten everything off?

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

In this forum we remove malware problems from PCs and rarely have to resort to a format to fix all problems. However it is your decision in which direction you want to go. But if you are looking to format your PC and need help figuring out how to backup all your data, and how to reinstall everything etc, this is the wrong forum. Those questions belong in the Software Forum.

If you want to fix your malware problems then follow the steps below!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

I've done something majorly stupid. (not on my computer btw) When I deleted the file I was told to deleted to get rid of the Aurora Virus...I deleted another file and now I can't log onto my computer. I deleted Userinit.exe. Now I am no longer able to get into my name. It goes to the welcome screen and that's it. I sign in and it signs me right back out. I've tried putting it in safe mode but it still did the same thing. How can I fix this?

Are you working your problems on another website in addition to MGs?
Or were you just experimenting on your own?

You are outside the realm of the malware forum now! You will need to get a copy of userinit.exe back into the system32 folder where you deleted it from. You may be able to locate a copy of userinit.exe (or a compressed version named userinit.ex_ ) on your PC in an i386 folder (if it was install with this folder). Otherwise you will need to use your Windows XP boot CD and you will have to boot to the Recovery Console and then from a command prompt copy the file from the CD to the system32 folder on your harddisk.

If you need help with this, you should post a message in the Software Forum. Once your PC is bootable again, you can come back here for help with your malware, but this time I strongly recommend you only do what we ask you to do.
