What is Happiness?

What is happiness? Many people believe that the most important reason to live is to be happy. However, happiness differs among everybody, as different things make different people happy. So my question to you is what makes you happy? How can happiness be achieved? Are you happy?(please be as thorough in your explanation as you'd like).

I think happy or happiness is a word like love, that people use in the wrong context to the point that it really has no meaning. What is a happy feeling? You can feel elated, is that happy? Your car repair bill turns out less than you expected. Is that a happy feeling? I'm generally a "glass half-full guy" but I would use the word content as opposed to happy.

 

I'm easy to please...a cold beer, a warm day, a cool lake or stream, and FISH ON!!!!

This is easy...
Happiness is meeting the girl that I will marry soon! I met her about 2 years ago, and through thick and thin she has been right there nagging me, but the important part is she has been there!

 

I like this one the best. I grew up poor but didn't know it, I had food, shelter and love. People were polled on this recently and the statistics were in favour of people going from homeless to having a home and way less from that to people who could afford anything they wanted. Food, shelter and love seems to be the winner to me and not useless things.

For me, happiness is being content with my life - and I am. I've raised two healthy, strong, and moral sons (more on that later), and I am married to the love of my life (still dunno why she married me . . . ). I only have to work nine more years, and I can retire. Yeppers, I am a very blessed individual.


All that, and finding out recently I am going to be a Grandfather! (A very young, Grandfather, I hasten to add! )

To me, happiness is having friends and family who love you and knowing FINALLY and being content, with who you are. Respecting others' opinions about what makes them happy is pretty good too. We're all Jock Tamson's bairns after all!

 

Happiness is where you find it. Within yourself is good start. Because, if you don't start there, you won't find it anywhere else. People can't make you happy, although they may be an influence, money doesn't buy, although it might by a better standard of misery, LoL.

Wake up with a grateful heart, and enjoy the gift of each day, because they are numbered, for all of us.

The enquiring mind looks around the self for answers, the wise mind looks within.
