What is OEM and SB for XP?

I've been trying to find a version of XP Pro to buy that is attached to me, not to my computer. In reading about oem, I learned that this indicates an attachment to a specific mother board. There seem to be legal oem copies available to buy, but I'm wondering how to tell if a version offered for sale is NOT oem. How do I find that? What does SB mean? Is SB the opposite of OEM? Or does it mean something else altogether?

And as a last unrelated question ... why won't Major Geeks website stay its own browser window for me? It immediately gets covered up by whatever website I pull up, like it has no priority or something. Is that anything I can change?

    thanks!

OEM(Original Equipment Manfacturer) just means no frills or basic package, usually no fancy retail box. OEM products are usually intended for system builders ect. im not sure about the SB you are refering to

as for the web page problem, you didnt specify what browser you are using so im going to asume Internet Explorer.

if so go to Tools Menu >>> Internet Options >>> Click the Advanced tab then uncheck the Box called "Reuse Windows to open shortcuts"

that should solve your prob :)

    Thanks, VoiD,
I've gotten smarter since I posted this thread.
SB means system builder or, in other words, OEM. Another name for the same thing.
So what is a non-OEM, non-SB version called? is that retail?

Non-OEM could be either retail or corporate.:)

yes, thanks, I do, and I do

I know promotional is illegal, except if it was given to you, but that's still something different than corporate, isn't it?

yeah corporate is for companys as the name suggests ;) sometimes they have versions that dont require a unique keycode for each installation as they could be installing on many systems but only alowed for that companys use, not sure on MS's policy with windows though.
