Does anyone know what this error from Norton Internet Security 2008 is? I think it might have something to do with Outlook 2003? :)

LOL I agree. Unfortunately, it's a work computer, so I have no choice in the matter. I'm wondering what the error means.

    Yup....
Have you checked with the folks over at Norton/Symantec? I'm pretty sure they have forums and even a live tech-chat....

Sorry-I didn't realize it wasn't readable. I can't get it small enough to meet the download max size, so I'm just going to type it in. Here goes:

    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found

The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent. If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

I checked Norton's website's support database, but found nothing. I HATE HATE HATE talking to their live chat. I don't think I need to explain why. :banghead

I added the error text in the previous reply, so maybe that will help. Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it, but I do know how to change file types. I just didn't realize it was .bmp the first time. I made the mistake of rushing and that's led to all of this. It was just much faster to type it since I can type 100+ words per minute! ;)

Can you help with my question about the error?

No need to apologize! You were just trying to help and that is what's important. I really do appreciate it. :wave

Thank you for trying with the error too. I didn't get much further than you, but thought I'd still see if anyone here was enlightened on the subject. The computer seems to be working fine. The error just popped up and I didn't know what it was trying to tell me. I'm probably better off not knowing. :-D

    Hi mbmadiw,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your posting.

Can you please tell me when and where you are receiving this error message? Does it appear as a pop-up from the Norton Protection Center in the Taskbar, or does it appear when you are visiting a website, within the Norton Internet Security interface when launched?

A "404 Page Not Found" error is usually related to either the site you are trying to visit being offline, a mis-typed URL or a possible connectivity problem on your computer. Have you tried to manually run LiveUpdate from with Norton Internet Security? If not, please do so to make sure that you have the latest program and definition files applied. Also, try emptying all of the temporary internet files in both IE and Firefox.

If you could provide some more details as to when this error appears, I can do some more research on this issue.

    Thank you,
    Mike
