What is this error?

When using Outlook on Windows 2000, a box pops up with this message when you on New to send a new E-mail message:

A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No".

Then you can check box "Allow access for 1 minute" (or more) and click Yes. I always click No though.


Norton Internet Security is on this computer. Anti-Virus is updated and a scan found nothing wrong. I downloaded AVG and found 0 issues too. I also did Bitdefender and found nothing again.

Any ideas for me? It comes up every time and is annoying.

Try opening outlook via start->run "outlook /safe", and try sending email again (If word is set as your email editior, you will probably get an error when you first compose an email saying word is not available, this is normal).

If that works, its probably an add-in, usually add-in and com add-in buttons can be found at tools->options->other->"advanced options" button (with their own buttons in the advanced menu), though that location may change somewhat between version.

Also, try disabling word as the email edition and test. If the error goes away, check for word scripts or plug-ins.
