When I shutdown my machine I get hung up waiting for Knaogl32.exe to quit. Does anyone know what this file is, what it does, and how to either dump it or keep it from hanging my machine up?

Thanks for any help....... I am frustrated.

Welcome to MG. What happens if you rename the file to Knaogl32.xee and re-boot and attempt to close down?. You can always rename it later, back to *****.exe. If you do a search/find for that name, what folder/program is it part of?. Any additional info will help. Bazza.

Good chance it can be found with a search of your directories. If in a program files area, you can determine what started it. Or you can download the "process explorer" for your operating system from http://www.sysinternals.com/ and find out what other programs it calls. Odd that a google search does not turn up anything at all. Are you sure about the spelling?

When I do a search for the file it is located at C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch. That is the only place it was found. I renamed the file, restarted, and got the same message about waiting to end. When I came back up I found that if I go to this folder I can delete the file or rename it, it just reinserts itself back into this folder. Is this something being initiated from the Registry?

This folder holds your recently used files so it would appear there ,did you run your malware a/virus /programs

    are you running xp

if so at the command prompt type
msconfig then click the start up tab then see if this appears on the list if so uncheck it and re-boot if all seems ok run a malware/virus check. if you get an error message on boot up not the messsage saying that you have alterd the boot up procedure re click it back

as i said earlier i cant find a refrence for this, but usually viruses re-name themselves with random letters so i could be that ,or part of some kind of software you have on your machine that is completely harmless try this out and post back your comments

I would like to read this tutorial but got a page not found when clicking your link. Perhaps a bad link, please re-post.

I updated my Adaware and NAV, ran complete scans, and NAV located several viruses. I quarantined and then deleted them all. Adaware found nothing but Dataminers. So far, so good but will post again if this beast shows it's ugly head again.

    Thanks to all who responded.

    hi

it looks like a video driver for enabling open gl

maybe try looking there and what's loading for a specific video card

the last 5 characters hint at it.(ogl32)

I am having exactly the same problem but with a different file name.
nclada32.exe only reference is in the file NCLADA32.EXE-351F3A1C.pf

    Im running win XP sp2
    Norton AV & AVG

I have run both antiviruses and adaware and spybot and they have found nothing.
I have looked through msconfig and there is no listing for nclada32 so i dunno what the story is.

after AVG did an update today it found viruses in the file nclada32.exe

BackDoor.Small.14.AA was the virus name. If you have already not found a solution to your problem download avg and update it and scan your pc
