In the last 6 months, since my employers have decided to "help out" in my department, 3 of my best employees left for other jobs.

These guys are just the money behind the business and have very little in the way of a clue as to what is actually going on.

I've been in the business for almost 30 years and I have taught them everything that they know, but they still insist on trying to do things their way.

I have sent out 10 resumes in the last 2 weeks alone.

I see an iceberg dead ahead and I'm jumping ship.

What you seem to forget is that these employers need to justify their position.

We lost our number 1 guy because he said that he could no longer work for complete idiots.

These are the co-owners of the company and when they decided to take over running things, chaos soon followed.

I guy with over 20 years in the business came to work for us on a Monday and Wednesday morning, told us that it was not for him.
We sat down and had a long talk and he asked if there was any way that I could keep the owners out of the way, that he would love to stay.

These guys are salesmen and know enough about the product to talk you into it, but have absolutely no idea how it works, or what it takes to repair it.

I know that someone else has been there before.

I'm going to drop this rant and release this thread so that it can resume it's intended course.

speaking of fools, I seem to remember it as an old Arabic saying,

"It is better to be thought the fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

One that has been recently running though my head a lot is a paraphrase from a movie,

"Don't you think if I had raised my hand to him, he would be wearing my rage?"

I love this one from Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene:

[Softball Player throws cig butt on ground]
    Hank Evans: Hey ringworm...
    [Softball Player looks around]
Hank Evans: Yeah I'm talking to you, you toxic waste of life. You gonna pick that butt up, or do I have to glue it to the end of my shoe and stick it in your big fat pimply a-hole?
Softball Player: Hey buddy, chill out. It's just a cigarette.
Hank Evans: Oh yeah? Well this is just a fist. But when I start throwing it around I can leave one hell of a mess. Let's dance.

I was referring to the poem from Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" not the Shakespeare reference from "The Merchant of Venice." Your post "all those who wander are not lost . . ." made me think of it. :) :

From the Lord of the Rings:

All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Great trilogy - the movies were good, but the books 1000 times better!

"Glitter" is the modern version of "glister", which dates from the 14th century.

lol - not heard that quote from smashmouth. My sig means "words fly away, writings remain" . . . seemed appropriate for a forum :-D

Cool - I like that song, and I have heard it before . . . but I forgot about that line. Thanks for the vid link, because a few of the lyrics I couldn't make out before. :)

. . . and a nod to tonyhale - I looked up that passage in Shakespeare and I did indeed more exactly quote it then Tolkien's version. ;) The phrase "Not all those who wander are lost" is all Tolkien, however, from what I have been able to find out. It apparantly is commonly attributed to Shakespeare along with the "gold" quote.

    I have too much time on my hands, don't I . . . :p

Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.

Honestly don't know, but I doubt it was one of W's 'strategery' phrases. :-D

Google says: "That government is best which governs least"

An aphorism sometimes attributed to either Thomas Jefferson or Thomas Paine, "That government is best which governs least", actually was first found in this essay.[4] Thoreau was paraphrasing the motto of The United States Magazine and Democratic Review: "The best government is that which governs least."[5]"
