This sounds like an amazing job! Never even heard you could be one, but then I suppose not all flowers you buy are grown by man! What was it like? And what is a Night-fill Capatain?

So many of those jobs sound so strange...

@Natakel, what on earth is a Soda Jerk?
@BILLMCC66 "abnormal load planner" that sounds so funny, was it the load that was abnormal? And in what way? :D
@Calltaker, that list sounds a little like my list... at least in the vastness and length of it! :D

    Going from present time, backwards:

Currently part time employed as an English teacher for students age 15-19 at a Waldorf school. Part time studying, and no, this barely covers the bills... Lol. Money isn't everything in this world though, at least I try to tell myself that at the end of each month...
Teacher in English, navigation and diesel engineering, same ages
Engineer at a passenger ship in Stockholm, part time, whenever they had customers...
Internship as a trainee to become a skipper
    Studies to become a skipper
Manager of the different student pubs at the university, employed by student union. Fun work, but the human body isn't really cut out to party 5 days a week...
Shop attendant at a natural cosmetic store and homoeopathic apothecary in the US.
Part time work at the counter in an enormous food store, while studying English at the university.
Assistant in a daycare centre for kids
Shop attendant in a store that sold everything from cotton diapers and woollen underwear to natural cosmetics and philosophical literature.
Shop attendant in a store selling leisure boat equipment.
Shop attendant selling a French line of natural cosmetics.
Working in shipping in a warehouse.
Seamstress and shop attendant in a store that manufactured and sold woollies.
Caretaker for elderly at a nursing home.
Assistant at a farm, mainly tending to the hay harvest, but also re-roofing, rebuilding in barn and other chores, part time in the summertime during school hollies.
Working at a farm in Germany during summer hollies. I was 15 and was doing a grown person's work. Great fun!

    Phew! :D

lol - I guess that does sound kinda odd. I worked at an A&W Drive in - it's a hotdog/hamburger joint where cars pull in and order food, and "car hops" bring the food out to them on a tray. I worked inside, taking the orders and making the drinks required to fill them. The kitchen would pass the food out to me, and I in turn would give the food and drinks to one of the car hops. I also made root-beer in big vats from cartons of syrup and bags of sugar. This type of establishment is pretty rare nowadays.

Ahhh, the days of my youth! :)

@BILLMCC66 "abnormal load planner" that sounds so funny, was it the load that was abnormal? And in what way?

The job is planning a route for loaded truck that are special licence for abnormal transport I.E. long( up to 46meters) heavy (up to 150 tons° and wide (up to 6 meters) they are only allowed on certain roads during certain times and things such as roundabouts weak/low bridges all have to be considered and we have to drive the route first with a car.

Picking Native flowers is probably a better description
They were farmed, but are considered native / wild flowers
    Banksias mainly

A night-fill captain is someone who supervises the restocking and presentation of stock in a supermarket, the title is humourous, i believe it has something to do with 'going down with the ship' ;)

Bill, that sounds a little like transfer of Dangerous Gods, but with the consideration of size and weight in addition to other hazards! Difficult work! :)

Shanemail, those flowers are gorgeous! But didn't they hurt when you picked them....?

  14. BILLMCC66

It's pretty much the same i also hold a certificate for dangerous goods having been a truck owner it was compulsary.

i may say the Scandinavian countries are relatively easy the roads are in good condition and the weight restrictions are not so difficult.

the worst by far is Germany with all their regulations.
