yeah i was just wondering what kinda jobs most of you guys have, id assume you guys would be into something with computers but i dunno, b/c i think i wanna do something with computers maybe since there awesome

I teach navigation, maritime engineering, radio communication (VHF) and English (don't laugh, I know I can't spell or write properly! ) in the winter. For A-level students and college students.

In the summer I work as a sailor and engineer on a small charter wreck in the swedish archipelago... I will keep that job till she sinks!

Me, I'm a self employed part time web-designer I'm still in school, doing some A-Levels, all of which I don't like, lol. Ahh well, gets me UCAS points.

When I leave I hope to either a) continue my business or b) go into digital arts (illustration, film making, colourist, somthing along those lines).

Just graduated for computer arts. Hopefully I can find a real job in the next, oh 6mths, (but I am not holding my breath!) But to pay the bills, I am in a should be a four letter word ....insurance..... gag gag groan

I used to be an Electronic Technician, then a Computer Technician, then a Trainer/Network guy, now I look at how well people do their job and then tell them how to do their job better.

I also do some side PC/Network/Web stuff, but lately business is sloooooow.

I work at a art gallery every Saturday, and fill ins during the week…….artist of two and three D work, but I’m not much of a painter, except for houses………on the 3D side, I like to carve wood, and play with clay….wheel thrown, and hand building……on the 2D, I work in old style prints, made for a plate that’s been etched, then filled with ink…..been taking photos since I was eight years old………and I just got a new toy…it’s a Fujifilm FinePix S7000 digital camera…….it’s a 6.3MP camera, o what fun

I only work for pay about 30 hours a week, but every thing else is fun, but in an old body like mine…………it’s work too……….wobbles

Currently, i deliver wholesale books and magazines and sell adult magazines on the side. *grin*


In real life I do a lot of things, I am a pc/network tech when people want to pay me to do it, I draw blood, watch heart monitors, teach computer classes and do bar security (the last I do every thursday)

Layout of printed circuit boards, before that, I was a draftsman (with a pencil and paper and drawing board and templates and everything - none of this newfangled computer stuff) and technical illustrator, before that, a college dropout, before that, a bookbinder AND a college student, before that, (briefly) a store clerk, before that, a high school student.... And I'm sure I forgot something somewhere there...

 

I used to work as a CA, and by process of elimination troubleshoot the lan etc. (this at first scared the crap outta me, but eventually got the hang of it, as I had been using computers since the 'stone age').
Now I don't work due to major illness, but still do some occasional projects on spreadsheets and cruise around on my PC.

 

Just thought I'd revive this thread as I've just started my new job as Radiology SysAdmin . Got a cool badge!

Sort out the CRIS, (Basically patient information, bookings etc), Winscibe (Digital report dictation) and the fun one - PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System), stores all the Xrays, CT, MRI, Ultrasound exams etc for 3 large hospitals in the Trust. 14TB of storage at the moment, plus 2x 2TB web servers. This is expacted to last about 2 years before we need more space

What could you do with 14TB

 

I'm in Human Resources....which can be slow at times...as you can tell by the fact that I am writing on MG instead of working. Oh what the heck! The boss is out of town until next week so we're all eating pizza, surfing the web and goofing off!

Gosh, makes my job at WalMart sooooooo -not- exciting! LOL Just changed what I do for them. After 4 1/2 years stocking coffee pots and trash bags, I finally got moved into the front office to do part of the accounting work. Yippee!!!

Locksmith And Safe tech: I am working for one of a dying breed, A full line locksmith shop, IE: We do it all from custom built locks to electronic locking systems (from card readers to Retinal scaning used to verify Identity to allow entry) it is a cool job and never been board, I still after 18 years like going to work!
