What mouse do you use

i have a 5 button optical MS mouse. i dont like trackballs, and i only like optical...should i just keep mine (nothings wrong with it) or get something better for gaming?

 

Nahh, I just use simple 3 button optical, does the job just perfect for me

 

in online gaming you hear two sides to the story as to if it helps or not to ahve a gaming mouse.

 

Well, I wouldn't really say it helps, after all it's down how good the person is rather than what mouse they use

 

heh, wow.. im a big time gamer.. and a mouse is just personal preference.. whatever you like and suits you.. i use Microsoft Intellimouse Optical 1.1.. and im never switching to a another mouse b/c im used to that one, works fine and iv been using that for 4+ years in gaming

not really.. a serious gamer doesnt need this 100 dollar mouse.. its not like you need that mouse to be good lol.. like "every serious gamer needs THIS!".. nah man lol.. its just whatever you play with best.. the worst thing to do is to completely change your gaming setup

 

Having a mouse with plenty of easy to reach buttons is an advantage for sure. Especially with games where you can bind each button to do cool stuff. I use my middle button to stack weapons in UT2004, and the scroll wheel to choose em. It's very effective

 

Theres 2 types of hardcore gamers, one that HAS the resources to buy expensive top of the line neat-o stuff, and one that doesn't. If you CAN afford it then more power to you.

The mouse and controller I listed aren't that expensive.

The controller especially makes a huge difference in First Person Shooters.

 

I disagree, I couldn't see myself using anything other then a keyboard; even pro gamers dont carry that hand crap onto competitions because its just not the same.

I have, and had the same opinion as you prior to using it.

When I did try it I was blown away by what it can do, how comfortable it is, and the difference it makes to gameplay.

 

The mouse would be sweet. You can change the dpi mid-game, so that is fricken perfect for sniping, then going back into battle in first-person shooters.

Actually, that Belkin thing is pretty sweet too. At first, I looked at it and was like "there is like 7 buttons on it", but if you read the article, there is a button that shifts it into different stages, giving each button multiple commands. those are both pretty sweet gadgets.

Just because it's not the same doesn't mean it's not as good.

 

Stay with the optical mouse (that's what i've got, i got so sick and tired of cleaning out my old trackball mouse, cleaning the inside of it plus the ball it self!)

 

Look, sure alot of things in games just depends on how good the person is taht is playing them. But a good mouse helps.

I.E:
Digging a hole with a shovel
or
Digging a hole with a back-ho

 

Less weight, more slippage on a mouse means your reaction time is faster. Remember an avg time of .300ms is taken to react, in a game it means you shoot the guy in the head or you get shot in the head and lose the round. Yes ive been playing for a long time, my best moment was winning BF2 tourney @ Digilife in NYC, 1.25gb ram free . But ive played in leagues and what not, specifically BF2 , CS:S, CS 1.6, TFC.

 

I find it a "bit rich" for someone to call an item crap when they've never used it! Aside from that, it gets great reviews and the profile software is excellent.

I enjoy gaming, especially First Person Shooters, so I enjoy having the best possible controllers I can afford.

Anyway, as I said, the stuff I linked isn't that expensive, the price of a couple of games.

Like everything else, having the best tools makes the job easier and more enjoyable.

 

Omegamerc what cs 1.6 leagues have you been in? i play 1.6 a good bit..

and err.. like i said, i think mouses are personal preference, whatever you do best with and the one you should keep.. if you buy another mouse and play with it for a while and your not any better or worse.. just stick to your old mouse.. you just cant tell a person to get a mouse that has nice features that the person doesnt really need

 

Havnt played CS1.6 in such a long time, I don't remember any of them any more...
