What music you listening too?

I rarely listen to new music, and if I do, I have no idea what band it is because it's something that was on the radio, where they rarely announce the bands while I'm listening. On occasion, I'll be working for a band I've never heard of, and one of their songs will seem familiar, but that's about it.

There's so much sludge to wade through, and so little value, that I find it's easier to stick to artists I know. The last time I seriously tried to listen to new music was in the early 1990's, and the average was one good band for every 25 I tried to listen to.

 

Just got in from the worst wedding event EVER!
One of those horrible family things where you're bored out of your wits for like 5 hours, sitting there chatting to your cousins about nothing.
But now I'm really sad and listening to the Goldmember soundtrack - some great cheese on there!

 

My first experience with music came in '83 with Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil",but I soon turned it up a notch when Speed Metal and Thrash entered the picture.I love Megadeth and Metallica.
I did like the whole Seattle thing when it happened in the early 90's,but as of now I lean towards stuff like Tool,A Perfect Circle,NIN,Slipknot,etc.Mostly because these guys are my age and still as p*ssed off as I am.

 

Been cruisin' around the state listening to Canadian and US Vineyard mostly

 

Let's see....today I listened to Metallica-Audio slave-Korn-Staind and Van Halen!

 

I'm listening to a little Aphex Twin... nice chillyouty music this time of the morning.

11:27am, didn't get home till 1am due to night out, had a little more to drink that I would have liked, but made a new friend and found out about a girl who is apparently crazy for geeks! I must meet this girl!

Earlier I listened to "In Christ Alone" by Adrienne Leishing and Geoff Moore. Very good Christian song. I don't generally listen to much Christian music though. But that one has good music, singing, and writing.

Other than that, I listen to Queensryche. Never got into it until a few years ago. Man, was I missing out.
Like Sgt. Tibbs, I like the older stuff. Most I like is older than Queensryche. 70's and early 80's. Very diversified. I like a range of music, from artists like Richard Marx to Metallica. None of that Rap crap though. Ain't exactly what I'd call music. Music involves singing.

So I'm not totally OT, last i was listening to was Peter Gabriel.

 

So when you gonna meet her? Does she live near you? Does she like Pete Gabriel too? lol

 

Nothing like calling an insurance company and hearing old stale Prince and Sheena Easton for the 20 mins you are on hold......

 

I once got put on hold to Val Doonican's...I Did it My Way....so a friend and I started singing along messing about in silly voices to it. We were so embarrassed when the guy took us off hold as we were in full flow with "myyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyy"

 

Not sure what that has to do with my post, but whatever.

 

i mostly listen to non-pop/r&b songs.

bands like Anathema, Kamelot, Iced Earth, Burning Skies, Caliban, I Am Kloot, old Metallica, Arch Enemy etc etc

I want music to have a deeper meaning than just be there for amusement

 

Yah, she lives in the small town down the road from me (bus trip away). She has a very similar sort of music taste to me, i.e. completly random!

But I gotta keep it down, she might read this thread!

Has anyone else got/heard the new compilation album Twisted?
Was released recently and is basically current indie stuff remixed, amazing, been listening to it a lot

 

Mostly I listen to country, but occasionally when I want to travel in time....I will listen to to hits of the 80's and early 90's TV shows....Hill Street blues, LA Law, Cheers, but I LOVE the NYPD Blue song!!!!

Hehe...I was listening to the music of Hawaii Five-O a few days back. My kids and I loved to canoe up the M5 motorway to that!!

 

Mostly the good stuff like Metallica, Soulfly, Slipknot, crazy stuff like that...
every once in a while I'll listen to stuff like the Eagles (they rock) and I also like classical music... I Hate country, cant stand it...
I like techno but I have to be in the mood to listen to it
so to sum it all up I listen to almost everything but country and rap.

Oh I litsen to Glass on occasion I have a very extensive and eclectic music collection. But then, I live in the UK so I probably don't count
